Litten Community Day

I’m gonna be blunt, I don’t like Incineroar. I think it looks smug and stupid and it was CLEARLY designed to be yet another fire/fighting type starter until Gamefreak realized they couldn’t add a fourth fire/fighting starter after Combusken, Infernape and Emboar. In the main games, it’s overly popular and a pain in the ass, and its shiny kinda doesn’t look as good as that of its pre-evolutions. Either way, Litten finally got its shiny release and Community Day in Pokemon GO. It was fine. And it was nice to see the x3 catch XP come back. Getting 7000 XP… [Continue Reading]

Chansey Community Day

I’ll be honest, I wasn’t looking forward to Chansey Community Day. I already had a bunch of shiny Chansey, Blissey’s shiny is the worst and since my egg space is full of 10 and 12km eggs, I didn’t expect to get a shiny Happiny (and I didn’t). Out of all the Pokemon we could have had for a Community Day, Chansey was so low down the list that I would have preferred Pikachu again. I get that maybe Niantic wanted something pink for February, to go with the Valentines Day event that they always do, but not only is Valentines… [Continue Reading]

Porygon Community Day Classic

I swear, they only ever seem to bring back the more useless Pokemon for Community Day Classic events. Hence why, on Jan 20th, we had the return of Porygon, which appeared in a Community Day back in September 2020. Which was a long time ago, but, well, Porygon isn’t exactly the most amazing of creatures. This Community Day Classic was nothing special either. The bonus was x3 catch experience, meaning you can get a nice, easy 3k experience one excellent throw. Incense and Lure Modules lasted for 3 hours if activated during the event. Those were the only bonuses, we… [Continue Reading]

Rowlet Community Day

Another year, another month and another community day! January 2024 starts the year off with Rowlet, the little owl Pokemon. And one of the very few starters with a secondary type. Rowlet is grass/flying, and evolves into Decidueye, a grass/ghost type. Evolving it during the community day will make it learn the exclusive move Frenzy Plant, while it can now also freely learn the move Spirit Shackle. The community day had the same rewards as most other ones: double candy, triple stardust, double chance for XL candy and the 3-hour duration for lures and incenses. Sadly, there was no egg… [Continue Reading]

The Pokemon GO Community Weekend 2023

Every December, we don’t get a singular Community Day with one Pokemon. Instead we get a recap weekend, where the Pokemon from the Community Days of the year are split into two groups, and you have two Community Days on one weekend. This year’s Community Weekend featured the likes of Fennekin, Chespin, Froakie, Togetic, Noibat, Poliwag, Slowpoke, Grubbin, Axew, Timburr and Wooper. Just like previous years,we got two days of spawns, with all 11 Pokemon spawning from between 10am to 10pm, then the community day spawn rates and shiny chances from 2pm t0 5pm. Evolving a Pokemon that featured in… [Continue Reading]

Mareep Classic Community Day

On November 25th, we had the Classic Community Day of the season. This classic community day though wasn’t the most interesting one as it featured Mareep, the little fluffy electric sheep. Mareep is actually a pretty common Pokemon, regardless of season, and has been around for a long time. It also had a research weekend event where you’d complete research tasks in order to get Mareep. Still, Mareep Community Day is what we got, and, weirdly, it came with quarter egg-hatching distance, again. Personally though, I’ve been wanting this. Despite all my years of playing, I never managed to actually… [Continue Reading]

Wooper Community Day

Wooper is a cute Pokemon, and it was made even cuter when Pokemon Scarlet and Violet came out, as it got a regional form which was also very cute. So when it got a community day, I was excited to get not just one, but two cute, cool shinies. For this community day, we got not just normal Wooper, but we also got the release of Paldean Wooper, and its evolution Clodsire. The bonuses for this event were 1/4 hatch distance and x2 candy on catching Pokemon. These didn’t feel that useful, mostly because Wooper has never been a rare… [Continue Reading]

Timburr Community Day

Fighting type Pokemon are very valuable when it comes to raiding and PvP. There’s a lot of stuff weak to fighting, so you need a good team. So Timburr Community Day was a good chance to stock up on some good fighting types. Ranked pretty near at the top, this fighting type is a perfect candidate for any fighting-based raid. So it was definitely worth doing. Especially with the double candy and double stardust bonuses. Conkeldurr, the final evolution of Timburr, is a pure fighting type Pokemon. It’s nearly as strong as Lucario and Terrakion, while also a bit more… [Continue Reading]

Grubbin Community Day

I do often wonder how Niantic decide on who and what gets a community day and when. For September 2023, we got Grubbin, the small bug type Pokemon that evolves into the bug and electric type Vikavolt. Why did we get Grubbin? No idea. But either way, we got a new shiny and a technically new move. The bonuses for the community day were alright. Triple catch XP is always a welcome sight, but Grubbin isn’t the easiest to get excellent throws on. Luckily, Grubbin is pretty easy to catch, so you get that extra First Ball experience. There weren’t… [Continue Reading]

Charmander Classic Community Day

Classic Community Days always bring back a Pokemon from the past who previously had a Community Day. In the case of Charmander, it actually already had two community days. The first one gave its evolution Charizard Blast Burn, the standard starter Pokemon fire charge move. The second gave Charizard the fast move Dragon Breath. Both are good moves in their own ways. Charmander’s Classic Community Day was the chance to get both moves at once. Are these moves any good though? Blast Burn certainly is. Charizard is pretty good in raids. Not the best (especially with the likes of Reshiram,… [Continue Reading]
