Things I Watch When I’m Sad

Life is full of ups and downs, and when you’re on a down, you need something to bring you up. For me, that often involves watching videos on Youtube and other video services. Here are the sort of things I watch when I’m feeling sad. I’ve mentioned most of this stuff before, but I feel like these things are worth repeating, because the world these days is so depressing. Dog grooming videos I don’t know why I watch pet grooming videos in particular, but they almost always have happy endings. Even videos with massively matted dogs end up with a… [Continue Reading]

Twitch Is So Game-y

I’ve been watching more stuff on Twitch lately. Due to my work, I don’t really want to watch something short on Youtube, or have to fiddle around picking something new to watch. Youtube’s autoplay feature can make some godawful selections, and it’s also been fucky with adblockers, unless you use uBlock Origin on not-Chrome. At the same time, I don’t really want to put on a 3 hour long Youtube video because I won’t be paying attention to it. But with Twitch, I can stick on a streamer playing a game I like, and just have some background noise for… [Continue Reading]

Yokai Watch 2 – So much more than just a Pokemon Clone

Throughout my video game journey, Pokemon has always been there for me. While I’m by no means a hardcore fan, I’ve played a good number of generations, and even tried shiny hunting a few times, though to little success. One thing that Pokemon seems to have nailed down at this point is its formula. Even Monster collecting games inspired by Pokemon seem to mostly stick to it, after all, it’s been working for years. But there’s one Pokemon-inspired game that vastly shakes up the Gameplay, and, in my Opinion is better than every Mainline Pokemon Game. And that game is… [Continue Reading]

Lure Modules Aren’t Very Good

Lure modules are like incense for Pokestops. You stick a lure module on a Pokestop and it spawns some Pokemon for you. Lure modules generally spawn from specific pools. The default lure module spawns whatever Pokemon are currently in the normal spawn pool, so they’ll spawn event Pokemon if there is an event, although some events do have Pokemon that are exclusive to lure modules. However, the special lures, Glacial, Mossy, Magnetic and Rainy, all have their own unique pools of Pokemon, and spawn a combination of these unique spawns and normal spawns. The special lures can also be used… [Continue Reading]

Little Quality of Life Things I Want for Pokemon GO

Over the years, Pokemon GO had been given a lot of little quality of life updates. But after all these years, there is still work to be done. Here are some quality of life changes, or rather, additions I’d like to see. A way to spin Pokestops with a full bag Pokestops do two things. They give you items and they give you research tasks. Sometimes, you just want research tasks. However, if your item bag is full, you can’t get research tasks, you need to clear some space out first. This is quite annoying. There’s no real reason to… [Continue Reading]

Is Saints Row: The Third a Good Game?

When you compare Saints Rows 2 and 3, the differences are quite big. Although Saints Row 3 is a prettier game, it’s lacking a lot of features that Saints Row 2 had. There are missing minigames, the story isn’t as long and there’s only really one singular story path with only a handful of decisions that matter. Saints Row 2 lets you pick which gang you want to take out first, while Saints Row 3 has a specific order to start in forcing you to take out Morningstar first, Deckers second and Luchadors last. There’s also a distinct tone shift… [Continue Reading]

Shiny Pokemon I Want But Still Don’t Have

Shiny Pokemon in Pokemon GO are more common than they are in other Pokemon games, except maybe in Scarlet and Violet, where you can just eat sandwiches that increase the chance of having shiny Pokemon pop up around you. But despite me having played Pokemon GO for years, there are plenty of Pokemon that are missing from my shiny collection. Here’s just a few of them. Slugma I don’t really know why I want a shiny Slugma. It’s a really interesting shiny that goes light grey. Weirdly, its evolution, Magcargo (which is a pretty crap name for a lava snail… [Continue Reading]

On Trying to be Green

Trying to be green and eco-friendly is hard for a normal person. The majority of us are just trying to survive our day to day lives, to pay our rent or mortgage and put food on the table. Some of us have families to look after, others are still unable to settle down, or don’t feel capable of or willing to starting a family. At the same time, we’re being told that we need to protect the environment and save our planet, even as we slip further and further towards destruction. Things are depressing. But we are told that we… [Continue Reading]

Mega Garchomp Raid Day

November 11th featured the first Raid Day in a long time, involving a new Mega Pokemon, Mega Garchomp. While we did have a Gible Community Day a few years back, this event allowed us to finally Mega Evolve the Garchomps we’ve had for so long, as well as the chance to catch some more Garchomps. The Garchomps had a chance to be shiny, and you got up to 5 free raid passes by spinning gyms. There were plenty of raids to be had. As a somewhat new feature, each raid would last 1 hour, and, after the raid ended, a… [Continue Reading]

Halloween Ends on 8pm in Pokemon GO

Halloween is generally a big thing. While I spent my Halloween on my own, sitting in pain and crying, many people went out, put costumes and ate tons of candy. Whether they went from door to door or went to a party, they had fun and probably stayed out past 8pm. People with little kids probably didn’t stay out too late, but it was Halloween, the day where most people DID stay out. Not for Pokemon GO though. The Halloween event they had (which included a Rocket Takeover event too) decided to end at 8pm. At exactly 8pm, all the… [Continue Reading]
