This Game Is Pissing Me Off Lately

Ugh, it seems like Lady Luck is not on my side lately. I’ve been playing a LOT of Pokemon GO as of late, but if you looked at what I have caught recently, you’d have thought I’d been hardly playing at all. Considering how many events we’ve had recently, doubly so when we had the Sinnoh Tour at the end of February, you’d think I’d have a ton of shinies, a bunch of cool Legendaries, things like that. But no. I’ve got fuck all.

In fact, I played both days of the Sinnoh Tour and came away with pretty much nothing. Okay, on my little account, I only played on the second day, but I only managed one shiny, but I only managed 5 shinies on my main account and those were all on the first day. I didn’t even come away with any good Pokemon, aside from a lucky Dialga. And, the idiot that I am, I traded away far too many of my Palkias with Spacial Rend, despite only having a few of them – I only have two left and one of them has nearly the lowest stats possible.

It’s been like this for ages though. My luck has fucking sucked and it’s getting annoying. The Charged Up event apparently had chances of 1/10 when it came to shiny chances on research Pokemon, but I saw chances of exactly 1/50. The last Shiny Legendary I caught was back in September 2023, despite all the raids I’ve been doing, and even though I did a bunch of Lucky Trades, I’ve not gotten anything good from them, apart from a Heatran without a decent move.

What makes matters worse is that, well, the game seems to just be making my life a misery. Every single damn Pokemon seems to take forever to catch. I once made three excellent throws in a row on a Rhyhorn to catch it. Which would be somewhat unreasonable on a weather-boosted 1400CP+ Pokemon, but I was literally just trying to catch a 200CP Rhyhorn. Just today, I used 5 Great Balls and 5 Great Throws to catch a single Rattata. And about 50% of all Pokemon I try to catch, especially common trash I’m catching for research purposes, seems to either instantly break out or jumps just as I throw the Pokeball.

Sure, I could just feed every Pokemon a Nanab, or wait for them to jump or attack before I throw a ball, but I shouldn’t have to do that with EVERY SINGLE POKEMON.

And to make matters worse, I’m seeing large flee rates as well. Okay, sure, Legendaries tend to flee, but during the Sinnoh Tour, almost all the wild Spirits of the Lake I saw fled, while the four other people I was playing with managed to catch at least half of theirs. I could blame it on bad throws, but a 400CP Azelf with an excellent throw and a golden berry shouldn’t be that hard to catch. Weirdly, I can land excellent throws pretty easily on the Spirits of the Lake, and if it wasn’t for the Timed Snapshot research, I’d never have caught an Uxie. However, normal Pokemon are just as bad. The last two Audinos (which seem to be more common this season) I have tried to catch have instantly broken out and fled after the first ball, and even shadow Pokemon, which are aggressive but have high catch rates, seem to need 3-5 balls to catch for pretty much no reason.

It’s all just needlessly frustrating, and it’s made worse by the fact that there’s literally nothing I can do about it. All I can do is play more Pokemon GO, do more raids, catch more Pokemon, and hope that my luck changes.

Sure, I could take a break, but, well, I kinda need excuses to go outside and do exercise, and Pokemon GO is that excuse for me. And I’m a particularly lazy person, if I lose the motivation to do something, I might not ever get it back. So I’ll just keep on playing, I guess…
