I hate Mann Up Mode

One day, a robot-building mechanic was invited over to Mann Up mode by his friends. He found the mode very enjoyable, with new bots to think of and newer lineups to consider. It was like paradise for him, where he could experiment around for the good of all humanity. Then suddenly, he decided to play Mann Up by himself. There, he was met with discrimination of all kinds, mostly regarding his tour count. He tried to negotiate against their request of his leave, which fell on deaf ears, thus going into protest. A kick vote was made, and he was… [Continue Reading]

On Crits

Yes. That thing that’s the sparkling rocket. That thing that’s the Sniper (or the Spy’s) headshot. That thing that comes from a Flare Gun or the prenerf Axtinguisher. That thing an Engineer gets on a Frontier Justice when his minisentry dies. Today, we will talk about the crit. Crits tend to be very annoying, random or not. It feels very aggravating to die to one. It does not help if it’s completely random and could not have been one, ending up with you cursing your luck for the rocket that manages to take off 360 of your health. Crits were… [Continue Reading]

Giant Snipers

Hello there, this is Dr. Odoroki talking to all of you. I am here to give you the lowdown on how my army of robots are built and ordered. Not that it’ll mean anything to you. Ahahahaha! So if you haven’t seen Reima’s video on my missions, I suggest you see it now right here. Medic’s blog post also works, over here. It’s the closest thing to a summary that is at current. You can see how some of these robots strike fear, and especially one player’s frustrated comment on that robot. One thing that irked me was how the… [Continue Reading]

Godspeed, Satoru Iwata

It has been announced that on July 11th, 2015, Satoru Iwata, head of Nintendo Corporation, has died due to complications related to a bile duct growth. The gaming community, especially  Nintendo’s, has been wracked by this event, and has given their condolences. Satoru Iwata, born on the 6th of December in 1959, became interested in making video games early on, and eventually joined HAL Labratory, where he was responsible in the participation of many games, including Kirby, Earthbound, and Balloon Fight. Eventually, he was promoted to president of HAL Labratory, who became responsible for bringing the company out of bankruptcy. As the head of Nintendo, he… [Continue Reading]

Let’s talk about the Sun on a Stick

The Sun-On-A-Stick is a very queer weapon. It was released alongside the Sharpened Volcano Fragment when RIFT came along, and it’s remained fairly unused ever since its first ever appearance. It’s not a sun on a stick at all, more like a wonderfully crafted ball of lava on a stick, certainly one of the more detailed and pretty weapons in TF2. Unfortunately for the Sun on a Stick though, it’s a victim of awful stats, rendering the poor thing nigh unused. Why? Well, it’s obvious really. The idea behind the Sun-On-A-Stick is simple. You team up with a Pyro to… [Continue Reading]

Why I love Sniper

Sniper is an awesome class to play. Even though he often gets derided on SPUF, he’s a really fun class to play. 1. He’s unique in terms of playstyle I see why this can be controversial, but he’s different from the others, where he’s likely to be a loner rather than try to get in everyone’s face. He knows the concept of personal space and prefers to work his magic from afar. He’s the only class to me where accuracy often depends on what rifle I’m using. His headshot mechanic used to be his bread and butter until the Spy stole… [Continue Reading]

The Big Earner: Not that much of a Big Earner

When the Uber Update came out, it gave everyone except Engineer a set of weapons to work with. Pyro got shafted a bit by getting just one weapon, but it opened up a whole new strategy of det jumping, which is kind of big. But the downside of getting a whole new array of weapons, is that they all suck! Maybe they don’t. For this article, I’ll focus on the Spy sector. More specifically, his knife, the Big Earner. The Big Earner +30% cloak refilled on kill -25 HP penalty It doesn’t look like the penalty wouldn’t do much harm,… [Continue Reading]

Balance vs. Novelity: What do we do with the Pomson?

The Pomson is a subject of innumerable controversies, some want it nerfed to the ground, some want it as it is, some want it to be dat Bison reskin, and et cetera. But which one must we run with, and how can we understand which perspective one will prefer? The Issue The Pomson, when first released, was a spammy weapon of mass destruction (not that far to my opinion, but still). One issue was that it was very deleterious to Medics and Spies, removing well-earned (or not so well-earned) Übercharge and Cloak. It was a mundane concept at first, not… [Continue Reading]
