Medic Plays A Real Pokemon Game for the First Time – Part 14

Okay! Dragon Gym time! I’ve always been a fan of dragon types but I actually don’t have many dragon types, aside from a noibat in a box somewhere. No, Toxel isn’t a dragon type. I’ve been a tad worried about this gym fight, mostly because I have no idea how many dragons I’ll have to fight, and I don’t have any strong ice Pokemon. I do have Snore, the Shiinotic I caught for the Dark Gym, who is a fairy type. However most dragons tend to breathe fire or have metal claws, and both are lethal to my little mushroom.… [Continue Reading]

I Feel Like I’m Playing This Game Wrong

While I’m writing this article, I have my Nintendo Switch next to me, leveling up my team in Pokemon Shield. I’ve been playing Pokemon Shield for a bit now (you can tell from all the articles surrounding this one) and I’ve spent a lot of time leveling Pokemon to great heights, ready for fights against the gym leaders across the Galar region. But something about how I’ve been playing Pokemon Shield just feels… off. I basically feel like I’m doing this all wrong. A dedicated team for each gym But as I put together teams for fighting gyms, I find… [Continue Reading]

I need fairy types. Like, right now. I don’t have a single one with me and I need some. Coming up next was the Dark Gym in Spikemuth, and I have pretty much nothing available to take the gym down. So I need to go and do some farming. And the first thing I do is go to Ballonlea, because that’s where the fairy gym is. I’m almost certainly going to find some fairy types there! Well, not really. I find some. But I also find a ton of psychic types, most notably Galarian Ponyta. Such a pretty pony. It… [Continue Reading]

A Brief Look at Deep Rock Galactic

Deep Rock Galactic is a game that people have been telling me to buy for ages. I’d had a few friends play Deep Rock Galactic recently, and they all recommended the game to me. So when it last went on sale, I gave in and bought this dwarf mining sim. Turns out, it’s a pretty good game. A very good game perhaps. Missions are chaotic The main gameplay loop is kinda hard to describe, but it mostly involves mining, Dwarves and nasty bugs. You select a mission, jump into a giant drill that sends you to where the mission is,… [Continue Reading]

So I’m off to the Ice Gym, where I hopefully will get my 6th badge. I’ve been leveling up my Pokemon, and now is the time to fight. I have a nice, round party of Pokemon who all have a super-effective move against Ice. Hopefully, I am ready to fight. However, before I attempt the gym, I want to mention Route 8, the route I took to get to Circhester. Whoever designed Route 8 is, in my humble opinion, an asshole. Seriously, how to people normally travel though this? Most of Route 8 is full of pits and holes, and… [Continue Reading]

I think my initial instincts are correct. This game is easy. Almost too easy. Then again, I’ve been doing it to myself. Leveling up my Pokemon seems like the best strategy to win fights. Who cares if Galarian Weezing uses Sludge Bomb against a Rillaboom? Not when the Rillaboom is ten levels higher. The Rillaboom in fact took out the Galarian Weezing and was then swapped out, thus not dying. My question is, is this the same with the rest of the game? I honestly don’t know, but I’m gonna try it anyway. I am going to keep on leveling… [Continue Reading]

Oh no. The Fairy gym. I’ve been dreading this one. Mostly because I really don’t like fairy types. Never had a good time fighting them, especially in Pokemon GO. In Pokemon Shield, I haven’t really fought many fairy types, but my current party hasn’t really prepared for a whole team of fairies. In my earlier gym matches, I’ve found myself running out of super-effective Pokemon moves, and I solved the problem in the Ghost gym by having three dark types and dark moves on my other Pokemon. I intended to do the exact same thing with poison and steel types.… [Continue Reading]

Sea of Thieves is a very pretty game

Normally, when I play Sea of Thieves, it’s really late at night. The crew I play with are all terrifying pirates that strike fear into both Sea of Thieves players and Team Fortress 2 players at the same time. They are all also people who live far away from me, in Canada and the US. So time zones, as you can imagine, are awful. Still, it’s worth staying up to play with them. As the hours fly by, I get more and more tired, to the point that I can only just follow instructions. In order to try and stay… [Continue Reading]

Last time I was here, I was avoiding Hop before reaching the next gym. I went off to catch some more Pokemon. After a semi-useful catching spree, I decide to go back and fight Hop. And, just like last time, I beat him with ease. To his credit though, he made one of my Pokemon faint. This is also the first time I saw a new Pokemon that had an entire fucking Pikachu trapped in its mouth. Gross. Anyway, with Hop out of the way, I can properly visit the gym here. It’s a ghost type gym, which would normally… [Continue Reading]

I smell a plot. It’s about time, but I think there might actually be some plot heading my way. I’ve just appeared in Hammerlocke, after having run through the wild. Luckily, I got through, but my party were not at all in one piece. Half my team got wiped by a single Gyarados that I attempted to fight, and I had to kill a lot of mid-level Pokemon to get to the city. Once I was there though, I noted how cool the place looked. After all, it’s a giant dark castle, and the entrance was a dragon’s head. Apparently… [Continue Reading]
