On Already Hitting the Dynamax Endgame

I like Dynamax battles. The tier 1 battles are super fast and free, and, when it comes to solo or low player content, tier 3, 4 and 5 battles are a great challenge. Gigantamax content on the other hand is intentionally tedious, in a bid to draw large crowds. While they can be beaten with low accounts, they require luck and maxed out Pokemon. And premium-only Max Mushrooms. But after a year or so of Dynamax content, the well is basically dry. But why? There are still unreleased Gigantamax Pokemon and a whole host of Pokemon who could be good… [Continue Reading]

To Be Honest, This Go Wild Event Is Kinda Boring

Dynamax Toxtricity with background

I kinda understand why we have the Go Wild event. It feels like a stop-gap between the massive Go Fest event in the summer, and the regional tours in spring. But this Go Wild event kinda doesn’t really have much going for it, apart from Toxel and Toxtricity. And even then? It’s… it’s just eh. I suppose it’s better if you buy the ticket for the event. You get extra stuff. Some raid passes, some Max Particles. Things like that. Nothing mind-blowing though. You do get a Toxtricity and extra candy and half hatch distance, but Toxtricity is all over… [Continue Reading]

But this time round, the raid boss is absolutely huge and, after a little effort, YOU can become absolutely huge too. The main difference is that Dynamax Pokemon are very tanky, you only have a team of 3 Pokemon and you do the most damage by Dynamaxing yourself. You do this by slowly filling up a bar (and occasionally swiping left or right to collect power ups)… [Continue Reading]

My Thoughts on Dynamaxing

Charizard Gigantamaxes itself

I never really got around to trying Mega Evolutions and Z-Moves. As far as I was always concerned, Z-Moves seemed boring to me, while Mega Evolutions looked fun and stupidly powerful. Then we have Dynamax, which, when I originally first saw it, looked like Mega Evolutions but worse. Your Pokemon gets all big, grows extra features and gets some cool moves in the process. The whole system is introduced in the first cutscene of the game, by a Gigantamax Charizard with wings made of fire. If you had shown me a picture of either of Charizard’s Mega forms alongside its… [Continue Reading]
