Medic Plays A Real Pokemon Game for the First Time – Part 18

Okay! It’s finally time! Time to challenge Leon, the Champion! We’re both out on the pitch, Leon is giving me a speech about how awesome this fight will be, and the hype is real! Chairman Rose is oddly missing in person, but don’t worry, he’s on the big screen with a message for us! Yep, Chairman Rose just kick-started the apocalypse. The Darkest Day is back, because Rose was worried that we’d run out of energy some time in the next thousand years. And as if on cue, massive plumes of Dynamax energy are exploding across Galar, the biggest coming… [Continue Reading]

I don’t know why, but it never occurred to me that maybe, just maybe, all the gym leaders would also want a go at challenging Leon the champion. After all, you have to fight an elite four before you face the champion in other Pokemon games, so of course we have something similar here. Well, I say that, I didn’t know the gym leaders were also the elite 4. I dunno, it’s weird. I’ve just beaten my rivals and now I’m fighting the gym leaders I already beat. Except this time, they are actually trying, and they also want a… [Continue Reading]

Leon’s been gone for way too long. To the point that even I’m worried about him. Sure, the guy gets lost occasionally, but his Charizard always seems to get him back on track. Plus, this is Wyndon and there’s only one massive 5* hotel here. So it’s pretty hard to get lost. Clearly, something is going on. And Hop understandably wants to find his big brother. However, we’re told to stay put. And being the good 10 year old kids we are, we completely ignore that request and rush off to find Leon. Who is apparently at a meeting with… [Continue Reading]

Things I have Kinda Missed in Pokemon Shield

Turns out, there is a lot more in Pokemon Shield, aside from battling. And, honestly, I have ignored most of it. Things like trading and camping and stuff like that. It seems like I am missing quite a lot. And there are definitely some fun things to discuss. Take Camping for example. Pretty much wherever you are, you can set up your tent, take a break and spend some time with your Pokemon. Not only can your Pokemon get some fresh air, but you can also play with them, either by waggling a toy or playing fetch with a ball.… [Continue Reading]

So here we are, at the magnificent city of Wyndon! Or at least, we would be, had the train not dumped us off at the bottom of a massive, snowy hill. There are hikers and business men scattered around, as well as some pretty high level Pokemon. To get to Wyndon proper, we have to climb this massive hill. Seriously, this walk is so weird. Mostly because I’m playing as a ten year old wearing a skirt. You know what makes matters worse though? There are a TON of people on this route for us to battle. And I’m not… [Continue Reading]

Okay! Dragon Gym time! I’ve always been a fan of dragon types but I actually don’t have many dragon types, aside from a noibat in a box somewhere. No, Toxel isn’t a dragon type. I’ve been a tad worried about this gym fight, mostly because I have no idea how many dragons I’ll have to fight, and I don’t have any strong ice Pokemon. I do have Snore, the Shiinotic I caught for the Dark Gym, who is a fairy type. However most dragons tend to breathe fire or have metal claws, and both are lethal to my little mushroom.… [Continue Reading]

I Feel Like I’m Playing This Game Wrong

While I’m writing this article, I have my Nintendo Switch next to me, leveling up my team in Pokemon Shield. I’ve been playing Pokemon Shield for a bit now (you can tell from all the articles surrounding this one) and I’ve spent a lot of time leveling Pokemon to great heights, ready for fights against the gym leaders across the Galar region. But something about how I’ve been playing Pokemon Shield just feels… off. I basically feel like I’m doing this all wrong. A dedicated team for each gym But as I put together teams for fighting gyms, I find… [Continue Reading]

I need fairy types. Like, right now. I don’t have a single one with me and I need some. Coming up next was the Dark Gym in Spikemuth, and I have pretty much nothing available to take the gym down. So I need to go and do some farming. And the first thing I do is go to Ballonlea, because that’s where the fairy gym is. I’m almost certainly going to find some fairy types there! Well, not really. I find some. But I also find a ton of psychic types, most notably Galarian Ponyta. Such a pretty pony. It… [Continue Reading]

So I’m off to the Ice Gym, where I hopefully will get my 6th badge. I’ve been leveling up my Pokemon, and now is the time to fight. I have a nice, round party of Pokemon who all have a super-effective move against Ice. Hopefully, I am ready to fight. However, before I attempt the gym, I want to mention Route 8, the route I took to get to Circhester. Whoever designed Route 8 is, in my humble opinion, an asshole. Seriously, how to people normally travel though this? Most of Route 8 is full of pits and holes, and… [Continue Reading]

Medic Plays A Real Pokemon Game for the First Time – Part 10

Oh no. The Fairy gym. I’ve been dreading this one. Mostly because I really don’t like fairy types. Never had a good time fighting them, especially in Pokemon GO. In Pokemon Shield, I haven’t really fought many fairy types, but my current party hasn’t really prepared for a whole team of fairies. In my earlier gym matches, I’ve found myself running out of super-effective Pokemon moves, and I solved the problem in the Ghost gym by having three dark types and dark moves on my other Pokemon. I intended to do the exact same thing with poison and steel types.… [Continue Reading]
