On Buying A New Laptop

Right now, I am waiting for things to download, to install or copy over from my external hard drive. I have, after months of struggling, finally decided to buy a new laptop. The final straw was a splash of diet cheap cola, which rendered my keyboard unusable, but only decided to do so about 20 minutes later in the middle of a game of Risk of Rain 2. Being someone who uses a keyboard a lot, this was a little bit of a pain in the ass, and since it’s the Christmas break, nowhere is really open to fix my… [Continue Reading]

Horrible, Horrible Youtube Recommendations

I think, after writing for this blog for like five years or something, you can somewhat get an idea of what things I like. At the very least, you can guess that I like video games, most notably things like Team Fortress 2, Warframe, Skyrim and Minecraft. I also like things like Risk of Rain, Borderlands and the Binding of Isaac. These games are all pretty large, popular games that have avid communities and thus create a huge amount of video content, a lot of which ends up on Youtube. But I’m willing to look into other games as well,… [Continue Reading]

Persian

If there’s a Pokemon who’s had it more rough than Raichu, the unloved and often ignored evolution of game mascot Pikachu, it’s definitely got to be Persian, the evolution of fan favourite Meowth. I wrote about Raichu somewhat recently, and what with the release of Pokemon Sword and Shield, things seemed to get even worse for the elder electric mouse Pokemon. Not only is the Alolan version ignored, but Raichu doesn’t even get a Gigantamax version despite the fact Pikachu does. If you get a Pikachu from Let’s Go Pikachu, it won’t ever evolve into a Raichu. Persian’s predicament is… [Continue Reading]

The Mercenary

Sometimes I wonder why I do strange things. Sometimes I wonder why I do things and end up liking those strange things. The Mercenary, a character from Risk of Rain 2, is one of those strange things. You see, I play Risk of Rain mostly blind. While I’ve ‘watched’ a streamer and Youtuber play Risk of Rain 2 (he has a marathon run that lasts FOUR HOURS), I’ve never really watched it, it’s mostly just background noise while I do other things. After all, if I’m reading or writing or drawing, sometimes I want something that will play to itself… [Continue Reading]

Risk of Rain 2 and a Really Weird Difficulty Spike

I’ve been playing a lot of Risk of Rain 2 lately and, thanks to the help of my siblings and one of my siblings’ significant other, we’ve managed to get a lot unlocked. Every time we play and inevitably die, there’s always a “one more run” feel. And since it’s (mostly) pretty low in terms of computer resources (although far more than the original), we can play Risk of Rain 2 on all our crappy laptops. In fact, both my brother and I nominated Risk of Rain 2 for Steam’s Game of the Year award, because frankly it’s the only… [Continue Reading]

On Bread and Butter Pudding

Bread and Butter Pudding is weird. It’s bread and butter and milk and eggs and sugar. But it’s… it’s so tasty. And probably really bad for you. Bread Pudding is the same thing. But bread and butter pudding and bread pudding are kinda two different puddings. Not the same thing. But I made some bread and butter pudding and I just want to share how simple this is. Simple Bread and Butter Pudding Ingredients: Small loaf of white bread Butter, softened 2-3 eggs A bunch of sugar A bottle of milk Some sort of thing to sprinkle though the pudding,… [Continue Reading]

On Re-Working Eximus Units

The idea of bigger, more powerful enemies scattered among normal mooks and baddies is a great idea. They give you something different to fight while also making you prioritize things. But Eximus units in Warframe fucking suck. Eximus units are currently just all round annoying. There is nothing particularly interesting about them, they don’t relay any important information and, as threatening as they are, they tend to die as quickly as anything else. Meanwhile, there are other powerful units that actually feel somewhat rewarding to fight against, like the Nox, which can still be shot to death but can be… [Continue Reading]

On Trying To Make A Super Noobie Modding Guide

It sounds like a rather ‘meta’ move to write an article discussing the writing of another article which I haven’t finished and published yet, but I feel like there’s something wrong here. Something I can’t quite comprehend. And maybe if I write an article about how I can’t write an article, I’ll get it off my chest or something and will finally be able to write said article. Anyway, this article is about a modding guide I wanted to make. The idea was to make as simple a modding guide as possible for Warframe, so that newbies aren’t reaching Ceres… [Continue Reading]

A Day Off

Every year, some time during November and generally before any “black Friday” sales or anything like that, I’ll take a day off and spend a small fortune buying gifts for my family. Since I’ve been able to drive, it’s been a bit of a tradition for me, as I have the freedom to actually go out and buy gifts. Every year, I look forward to this one day off of my choosing, and every year I both enjoy it and end up with a sore foot or something because I trip over or have done too much walking. This year… [Continue Reading]

A Stupid Idea for An Ember Rework

When I first started playing Warframe, I was always in awe at the pretty flaming Warframe with the fiery Mohawk and the cool flaming explosions that would kill most enemies on the map. As I continued playing Warframe, I realised that I was seeing less and less of Ember, and that map nukers often ended up being Mesas or Equinoxes or Saryns. These days, I don’t see Ember at all, and I’m the one nuking an entire map with my high range and duration Volt build. So what happened to Ember? Two things happened. Firstly Ember got hit with some… [Continue Reading]
