Pokemon GO and Me

I have a habit about ranting about Pokemon GO. It’s a very simple game that has made a ton of money, but the company behind the game, Niantic, constantly make weird decisions about various game features. As of late, they have been constantly changing the item bundles in the store, and they’ve reduced remote raid usage by limiting remote raids to five per day. Niantic’s relationship with its players and customers is all over the place, and a lot of its Quality of Life changes have been slowly disappearing. Even right now, I could make an argument about how remote… [Continue Reading]

RIP My Black Pen

Whenever I draw something, I often want to outline it in black pen. After all, my pencil line art is very messy, to say the least. I draw lines over lines over lines with my pencils, and it’s very easy for my pencil work to all smudge together into one horrible line of grey. So in order for my drawings to not end up in a giant, massive, grey mess, I use a black pen and go over all the lines with that. Once I’m done with the black lines, I can then erase all the pencil lines, leaving a… [Continue Reading]

Some of my Favourite Fonts

Fonts are everywhere. Every single online word has a font associated to it. Whether we’re designing something new or are modernizing old artwork, there are millions of fonts to choose from. I currently have over 2000 fonts installed on my computer, to the point that I’ve broken the font list on Illustrator and can crash paint applications just by opening the font menu. However, while there are so many fonts, there’s also a selection of fonts that I like to back to, which look nice and professional.   Gotham Gotham is the font we use for our official artwork. It’s… [Continue Reading]

Why I’m Not Playing Skyrim Again

Skyrim is an odd game. It is both full of content but also eerily empty. While I have played a lot of Skyrim in the past (and even did a whole walk-through playing as the TF2 Medic), I’m wondering if it’s time to give Skyrim another try. But there’s a lot stopping me from doing so. I ought to move to Special Edition. Currently, I only have the Legendary Edition of Skyrim installed. This is the old, 32bit version of Skyrim. I’ve played a bit of Special Edition before and while being a tad more stable, is a little bit… [Continue Reading]

On The Jetpack Social Plugin

Jetpack is a plugin that has been tied to WordPress for a very long time. It’s got a bit of everything in it. I personally use Jetpack to see website stats, like how many people have viewed our website, and to see which articles are popular. However, the other big thing I use Jetpack for is Jetpack Social. Jetpack Social allows you to post to different platforms whenever you make a new post. This plugin would post to Facebook and Tumblr, and can also post to Linkedin as well. It used to post to Twitter as well, but that stopped… [Continue Reading]

On Hunting Bugs

Bugs and glitches; they are absolutely everywhere. Anyone or anything that claims to be completely, 100% bug-free is probably lying. There’s bugs in everything. At the same time, there are tons of people trying to squash all these bugs. Programmers and developers can spend huge amounts of man hours trying to find bugs and fix them. I’m potentially one of those people. Sometimes, bugs somehow squeeze their way in all unexpected. This is doubly true for things like WordPress, which generally have tons of plugins and themes, all often made by third parties. With so much going on, a bug… [Continue Reading]

My Problems With Sea of Thieves

I love Sea of Thieves. It’s a unique game, perhaps the only real game of its genre, and I absolutely adore it. There’s something wonderful about roaming the waves, murdering passers by and getting huge amounts of treasure. However, I do have a few small problems with Sea of Thieves, and I think it’s worth talking about. Before I start though, there are definitely some things which aren’t the fault of Sea of Thieves. One of my bigger problems is loading times, but that’s because my laptop is a little weak. Sea of Thieves requires an SSD drive in order… [Continue Reading]

A Bit of Wrestling Disappointment

On a whim and an invitation from my brother, I joined him and a friend and watched Wrestlemania. This year, Wrestlemania was split into two 4-hour events, spread over the weekend. So we had day one and day two. However, we watched Wrestlemania in one go, watching it on the WWE network. Which meant we could skip over all the long, non-wrestling-y bits, and avoid the cringey adverts. Overall, it was fun, but I was left with a bit of disappointment. I’m putting a spoiler warning here. Wrestlemania concluded a couple of days before I wrote this article, and some… [Continue Reading]

Free Space For Railjacks

When Fortuna was announced at Tennocon years ago, a big part of the teaser was seeing a Railjack come in, Mag jumping on and us all seeing a transition straight to a Railjack mission, fighting a Kuva Lich. It all ended in a teaser for the Duviri Paradox. Now, while we’re all still waiting for the Duviri Paradox, we did eventually get most of what was teased. Fortuna became a cool open world area, we have Railjack mission and can fight Liches on, and the Duviri Paradox is on its way soon. We got most of what was promised, even… [Continue Reading]

A Nice Walk in the Dark

I consider myself a fortunate person. I live in a country where going out at night is mostly safe. The most likely thing to get you is a car that doesn’t stop at red lights. And because it’s so calm, I can also go out and play some Pokemon GO as well. It’s very pleasant. However, currently, it’s cold, and it gets dark quite early. We are in the middle of winter, after all. But the darkness can be a little depressing. This is where Pokemon GO comes into play, chewing away at my more negative feelings. It’s nice, just… [Continue Reading]
