The Absolute Nonsensical Bollocks that is ASMR

Autonomous sensory meridian response, often shortened to ASMR, is a strange thing. According to Wikipedia, it is a tingling sensation starting at the head and working its way down the body. The feeling starts at the head then moves down the spine. This feeling is often pleasant and is believed to be connected to things like Synesthesia. ASMR is also the feeling that I haven’t been able to describe for at least a decade. My entire life, I used to get these strange feelings. The sensation of tingling down the back of my neck. I never knew what it was… [Continue Reading]

Fun Warframe Augments

Warframe augments are a funny bunch. Some Warframe augments are rather useless or are too niche to be able to use them most of the time, especially since we have limited space for mods. Some augments allow you to tweak the way you play a Warframe. Some augment mods are insanely strong and make a Warframe ten times better. Some augments are so strong that you wonder why they’re not a part of the Warframe’s default kit in the first place, especially on weaker and less popular frames. But some augments are simply… fun. Here are some of the augments… [Continue Reading]

Minecraft, Sponges and Things I Think I Remember But Are Completely Wrong

I remember, when I was new to Minecraft, sponges were a thing. A sponge was a yellow and black cheese-looking block that would suck up any and all water in a 5x5x5 block radius, impressively having a “Moses Parts the Sea” feel to them. Sponges spawned in weird places, like up the side of mountains, and could be mined by hand or any tool. I used sponges to build a tunnel through a small sea to an underwater base in a multiplayer server, where I kept most of my stuff. Except half of that sentence isn’t true. Sponges only spawned… [Continue Reading]

Dead Articles

Being a new year and a new decade, sometimes I think about clearing out all the backlogs and finishing off a lot of unfinished stuff. After all, every time I log in to the Daily SPUF to write an article, I am met with the same old message, the same reminder that there are nearly a hundred articles sitting in the Drafts section, unwanted and unloved. The same goes for the Pending section, which is currently sparsely populated with four mediocre backup articles that I can schedule if I really fuck up and don’t have anything else to publish. But… [Continue Reading]

On Bread and Butter Pudding

Bread and Butter Pudding is weird. It’s bread and butter and milk and eggs and sugar. But it’s… it’s so tasty. And probably really bad for you. Bread Pudding is the same thing. But bread and butter pudding and bread pudding are kinda two different puddings. Not the same thing. But I made some bread and butter pudding and I just want to share how simple this is. Simple Bread and Butter Pudding Ingredients: Small loaf of white bread Butter, softened 2-3 eggs A bunch of sugar A bottle of milk Some sort of thing to sprinkle though the pudding,… [Continue Reading]

A Day Off

Every year, some time during November and generally before any “black Friday” sales or anything like that, I’ll take a day off and spend a small fortune buying gifts for my family. Since I’ve been able to drive, it’s been a bit of a tradition for me, as I have the freedom to actually go out and buy gifts. Every year, I look forward to this one day off of my choosing, and every year I both enjoy it and end up with a sore foot or something because I trip over or have done too much walking. This year… [Continue Reading]

The 38 Cent Bar of ‘Chocolate’

When I popped to the shops the other day to buy mayonnaise and some drinks, I spotted piles and piles of these bars of chocolate, in all sorts of different flavours. The shop I had gone to was one of those shops where they also bought old stock and sold it off for cheap, which meant I could get non-perishables, food that takes years to go off and drinks for pretty cheap. They also bought and sold stock that hadn’t sold elsewhere, and that was where these piles of chocolate came in. For a mere €0.38, I could get 90… [Continue Reading]

On Never Streaming

I’ve always kinda wanted to stream. Whether it be streaming video games or doing art, the idea of showing what you are doing, recording your actions and people wandering in and saying hi and talking to you all sound very nice. You end up making friends and maybe even building a community. Heck, you don’t even need to have anyone watching your streams, you can just stream yourself playing games and talking to some guy in the background in Spanish, not caring that no one is actually there, doing a 30 minute survival mission with three squad mates that are… [Continue Reading]

On Spam Comments

As I logged in earlier to write an article, I was greeted with a pretty normal message from Akismet, the free WordPress plugin that makes sure most spam comments just get insta-deleted. Today’s one was somewhat special though. Akismet has protected your site from 22,000 spam comments already. There are 194 comments in your spam queue right now. That’s a lot of comments. Granted, that’s 22,000 comments in over 5 years of Daily SPUF content but that is still a LOT of comments. And I haven’t gotten around to deleting the spam queue in a bit. The content of most… [Continue Reading]

Songs That Make Me Stop

I remember being told a story, years ago, about going into a shop and having everyone stop what they were doing because a song came on. Being a story from a long time ago, I don’t remember any of the details, who it was or where they were shopping or why, but I do remember the name of the album that the song was on: Everyone is Here by the Finn Brothers. What I don’t remember is what particular song it was. I think it was Edible Flowers, but here’s the thing – most of the songs on that album… [Continue Reading]
