The 400th Article, now with added prizes!

400th POST YAY
WOOHOO! 400TH POST!

“So what do you have planned for this 400th article?”

Since this is our 400th article, let’s have a look at some random stuff! There’s also a contest further down, so don’t go away!

As of writing, we have had over 100,000 views, with over 100 comments. Not a lot of comments, but comments aren’t that great anyway. Most people comment in our SPUF thread instead.

Most views in one day was 852, on the 28th of April 2014. The article published that day was “Demoknight, thou shalt not increase thy turn radius” by Aabicus.

Most referrals to this site come from SPUF, but some come from Google searches.

The first post was about the Half Zatoichi (though there is this secret zeroth post we didn’t migrate over from our initial domain), the posts with the most comments are tied, with 5 comments each, about seemingly good weapons, the Kunai and Unusual Hats. The most used tag is the Weapon tag, with over 80 articles using it. The most commonly used category by far is the Featured category.

The 300th post was Medic Tries To Explain Things…, the 200th post was Using Cosmetics To Your Advantage and the 100th post was Sniper Taunts VS Spy Taunts.

The Medic written over far too many articles for the Daily SPUF, but not as many as Aabicus. Miles behind are all the other contributors, most of whom have written around 10 articles, although thesupremecommander has written around 16.

“What about that contest then?”

And now time for a competition! Introducing the Write Stuff For The Daily SPUF contest!

“How do I enter?”
Simply write an article for the Daily SPUF on one of the four following themes:

  • A part of SPUF or TF2 history
  • RD_Asteroid or PL_Cactus Canyon
  • An article about weapon balance for a weapon of your choice.
  • An article about a non-TF2 game

The article must be submitted before August the 8th. You may only enter one article per category. Please mark that your article is for the contest by adding the following phrase somewhere within the article:

The Sticky Launcher is a Tricky One.

Failure to add that into the article will mean that we have no idea that you submitted it, and it won’t be judged.

All articles will be judged by Medic and Aabicus, and they will pick one winner from each category.

“What are the prizes?”
The winner for the Best Article About SPUF or TF2 History gets the Genuine Bundle, including items such as a First American, Hardy Laurel, Gold Professor’s Pineapple, Ham Shank.
The winner for the Best Article About the New Maps gets the Cosmetic Bundle, including items such as a Berliner’s Bucket Helm, a white Fast Learner, Big Chief, Brain Bucket and The Law.
The winner for the Best Weapon Balance Article gets the Weapon Bundle, including items such as a Strange Beggar’s with Buildings Destroyed, Pretty Boy’s pocket pistol strangifier, YER Specialized Killstreak Fabricator, The Self-Aware Beauty Mark and a Holiday Punch.
The winner for the Best Non-TF2 Game Article gets Fallout 2, Divekick, Saint’s Row 2. Thanks to SparkeeLecaro for donating some of these prizes!

Everyone who enters will also get their article featured on the Daily SPUF, so your effort won’t have been in vain.

Prizes will be confirmed when we actually know what we’re doing. Winners will be announced on the 10th of August, hopefully.

“Thanks, Aabicus and Medic, you’re awesome!”

Aw, shucks. But it’d be all for naught if it wasn’t for everyone who visits, reads and contributes to the Daily SPUF. Thank you all, and see you at the 500th article!
