The Big 500 – Fun, games and prizes!

Hello everyone and welcome to the 500th post on the Daily SPUF! That’s right, we’ve reached 500 articles and almost all of them are full of cool TF2 stuff and you should go and read every single article! Okay, fine, don’t do that (although it can take up a lot of your time), but instead of reading every single article, why not enter this contest!

Yep, we’re hosting a 500th Article Special contest here. No, this isn’t an excuse to make you all do all the work, because I’ll also be writing a bunch of articles too, based on what YOU want me to write! Plus lately I’ve been writing a lot of articles and you’re probably sick of my ramblings. We need some nice new, fresh blood, and you lovely people are just the guys to give it to us!

The Contest

As is tradition with big hundred articles, we’re doing an article contest. Unlike the 400th article contest though, this one will be different as there’ll only be three categories:

Halloween – Write about Scream Fortress, whether it’s complaining about Merasmus or saying how great 2014 is compared to 2013 or whatever, articles for this category MUST be about Halloween and Team Fortress 2. Will also accept good, scary TF2 fan fiction, but only if it’s decent. I’ll be the judge as to whether it’s decent or not.

Maps – There’s a ton of maps in TF2, so why not write about your favourite or least favourite one? Or compare maps! Or tell us why 2fort is so damn awful that it needs to be blown to smithereens! All articles in this category must be about maps in TF2, although comparing TF2 maps to maps in other games is also acceptable.

Class Balance – Tell us how much you hate the Engineer or the Sniper or whatever. This category is for anyone who hates the classes in general. Articles in this category MUST be about classes, not the weapons of a class. So no Wrangler is OP posts, please.

How to enter

Entering is simple. Just submit your entry on the Daily SPUF, making sure you include “500th Article Contest” as a tag, and adding the secret phrase “Snipers can be so annoying” somewhere in your article. I will take away points of you cheat and put the secret phrase in as a tag and will add extra points for the best use of the phrase. Your article must have more than 500 words, up to a maximum of 3000 words. You do not need to add pictures, but it helps.

You are allowed to enter three times, but only one entry per category.

Unlike last time, all articles will be published as soon as you’re ready. When your article is ready to be published, place an asterisk (*) in the title of your post. I’ll remove the asterisk when I publish your article.

“But why publish them when they’re finished, Medic?” Well, a guide to surviving Halloween is no use to anyone if the Halloween event has already ended, right?

On November 10th, I’ll go through all entries (again) and pick out a winner. Whether Aabicus wants to help judging your entries is up to him. We’ll reveal the winners hopefully on the 12th of November. Hopefully.

All entries must be submitted before November 10th!

The prizes

This is the bit you’ve been waiting for. This time, there will only be first, second and third prizes, as all entries will be judged on the same level. This is to make sure that everyone’s got an equal chance of winning, even if one category only gets a couple of entries.

Third Prize – 1 Decal Tool, 1 Strange Revolver, 1 picture of your favourite load out done in Garry’s Mod.

Second Prize – 1 Tour of Duty Ticket, 1 Strange Medi Gun, 1 picture of your favourite load out done in Garry’s Mod, 1 fan fiction of your choice written by me.

First Prize – 1 Mann Co. Supply Key, 1 Strange Sticky Bomb Launcher, 1 picture of your favourite load out done in Garry’s Mod, 1 fan fiction of your choice written by me, 1 piece of art drawn and coloured by me.

Plus any other prizes that anyone donates!

Choose the SPUF!

In addition to the contest, I’m also doing a little bit of fun. Is there something you’d like to read about on the Daily SPUF but just haven’t seen it? Had an idea for an article and never been able to write it? Do you just want to see something different? Well, guess what! Now your SPUF-related dream can come true! I’ll be writing 5 articles, with the topics chosen by the denizens of SPUF.

How does one choose what I write? Simple. All you have to do is either comment on the Daily SPUF article or the thread in the TF2 Steam Powered User Forums. On October 30th, I’ll pick five suggestions, either the five most popular choices or chosen at random if there’s simply too much choice and I’ll get to work writing them. These articles will be published throughout November.
