How to Hunt an Eidolon

In light of the 23 minutes of raw footage of capturing Eidolons I posted on the SPUF of Legend Youtube channel, I should probably, you know, tell you how to hunt and capture an Eidolon of your own. Because that would be useful.

Step 1: Complete the War Within. You NEED the dumb space kid for this.

"I came back... for you..." - overly dramatic Space Kid "They should have left me here..." - Teshin "I would have been fine with that..." - Loki

Step 2: Complete Saya’s Vigil, the quest for Gara, so you can talk to her pretending to be dead husband Onkko.

Step 3: Speak to Onkko to get your Mote Amp, or better still, kill Vomvalysts and other non-Eidolon Sentients, steal their Sentient Cores and trade them to Onkko so you can buy the components for a normal Amp.

Step 4: Equip your amp.

My Operator, Retvik.
You want to visit your Space Kid in their chair and click Customize Tenno to equip it.

Step 5: Put Radiation on your weapons, heat and electricity. Eidolons are weak to radiation for some reason. Sniper rifles are very good for this due to high damage in a single shot.

Step 6: Pick your Frame. If you aren’t feeling confident, pick Trinity with a high duration build and about 145% power strength. The current meta is Trinity for protecting Lures, Chroma for high burst damage against Eidolon limbs, Volt for Electric Shields to buff Operator Amps and Harrow or Oberon for immunity against magnetic procs and team buffs/healing.

Step 7: Join a Squad. Unless you are a super powerful Oberon with access to powerful weapons and a maxed out Amp and want to do this alone.

Step 8 (Optional): Speak to Konzu and start a bounty to kill or capture Eidolons.

Step 9: Go through the doors and spend an eternity waiting for the Plains to Load.

Or, if it's a Gantulyst or Hydrolyst, wait for the bastard to spawn from the middle of the lake or the edge of the lake.

Step 10: Find the Eidolon and mark it so your team mates can find it.

Step 11: Someone on your team needs to get some Eidolon Lures. You need 2 for the Teralyst, 3 for the Gantalyst and 3 for the Hydrolyst. But get extra just in case if you have time.

Step 12: Charge the lures. Break the shells of some Vomvalysts (attack them so they turn into ghosts) and let the lures suck them up.

Step 13: Go face your Eidolon.

This Eidolon is about to pop, but switching to Void Mode will stop you from taking any and all damage.
This Eidolon is trying to kill your flimsy space kid as you shoot it with your Amp, but switching to Void Mode will stop you from taking any and all damage.

Step 14: Destroy the Eidolon’s shields using your Operator and their Amp. Fire through any Electric Shields a Volt places to do more damage.

Step 15: When the shield is depleted, switch back to your Warframe and help your team mates shoot out one of the lumpy bits on the Eidolon’s limbs.

Step 16: When one of the Eidolon’s lumpy limb pieces breaks, you’ll hear a sort of shattering crying sound. Huddle round your team’s status immunity guy (Harrow or Oberon or maybe Limbo) and switch to Operator Mode. Activate Void Mode and remain inside it until the massive glowing field of magnetism goes away.

Step 17: Repeat steps 14-16 for each of the lumpy limb bits on an Eidolon (4, 6 and 8 for each Eidolon respectively). Your Lures will have beams of light attaching to the Eidolon now.

An Eidolon downed after all its weak parts have been destroyed. It calls for help, trying to get little Vomvalysts to help it.

Step 18: The Eidolon will fall down. Tons of Vomvalysts will come to try and heal it. Kill the shit out of them. It’s easiest to do this in Operator Mode.

Step 19: The Eidolon will get back up. Continue shooting Vomvalysts and shoot at the Eidolon until it starts floating in midair.

Step 20: When the Eidolon rises into the air then sinks into the ground, collect all your loot and rejoice!

An Eidolon being captured.

Step 21 (Optional): Go to the shrine in the middle of the big lake and sacrifice your Eidolon Shard to summon a bigger Eidolon. Repeat steps 11 though 20.

Step 22: Return to Cetus.

A successful squad of Warframes return to Cetus
“Wee we did it!” A successful squad of Warframes return to Cetus

Step 23 (optional): Spend your Eidolon Shards on Focus for your Operator and your Sentient Cores on Onkko to increase your standing with the Quills.

A Tenno spends cores for standing with Onkko
“Jeez, how many of these Sentient Cores do you bloody need?”

And that’s it! You’ve successfully captured an Eidolon, well done!

Thanks P_lasma for the minor corrections.
