Overwatch’s Zenyatta

I’m slowly but surely trying to become proficient at every Overwatch healer. I consider myself a seasoned Lucio, Mercy, and Moira by this point, comfortable playing them even in competitive or any team comp. I’m capable of playing Brigitte and Soldier 76 if the team comp favors it, and I am absolute rubbish at Ana. That leaves Zenyatta, who I’m enjoying the more I play him, but the difficulty scale and the drawbacks to his kit are dampening my spirit somewhat. While I cautioned Moiras against focusing too much on dealing damage, Zenyattas suffer from no such restraint. Zenyatta is a… [Continue Reading]

Get To Extraction

After getting a friend back into Warframe, we decided to do an alert that popped up. It was a special half-hour survival mission that rewarded 30,000 credits and 10 Meso relics containing Saryn Prime components. During this mission, we kinda all split up a little bit. It was inside a Grineer Galleon and we’d been given a very large, sprawling tile set with lots of large corridors and massive rooms. During this mission the words “they’re just hiding down a corridor to get that sweet damage” were muttered. But honestly, no one should be caring about damage dealt. Or damage… [Continue Reading]

An Elf, a Dwarf, a Kitsune and Literal Insanity

I’m going to be honest and blunt here, I should have started playing Dungeons and Dragons years ago. Or Pathfinder, which is DnD 3.5 and still very nice. Or just roleplaying table top games like this in general. It’s fun as heck. And, with the right person leading your games, it can all lead to literal insanity. My first character is Rhyn’Go AmWoluff. Rhyn’Go was originally going to be a Catfolk Druid with a cat familiar based on my real life pet cat Ringo, but I just didn’t have the right stats for it. So Rhyn’Go became a Kitsune Druid… [Continue Reading]

Display: Flex

Back when I was little, we made websites using HTML and a bit of CSS, with PHP or ASP or Python to do server-side stuff and Javascript to do client-side stuff. These days, we still use HTML and a bit of CSS, alongside all those other things. But thanks to, well, science, technology and the W3C I guess, we can do soooo much more with just HTML and CSS. Like, for example, rounded corners. In the old days, we had to use images for rounded corners, or weird janky hacks if we wanted rounded corners on anything related to Internet… [Continue Reading]

Don’t Worry About Valentines Day

For the 26th year in a row, I’m going to be single for Valentines Day. Does that bother me? No. Because it’s just Valentines Day. For starters, it’s supposed to be a holy day, commemorating two martyred saints, both called Valentine, one of Rome and one of Terni, back in the days where being a Christian was a pretty scary thing if you lived in most places on Earth rather than just a handful of them. While not much is known of Valentine of Terni, Valentine of Rome was killed because he’d been caught marrying people in a Christian fashion,… [Continue Reading]

On Kitguns and Zaws

When Cetus and the Plains of Eidolon were released, they came with the ability to build Zaws, your own, somewhat custom melee weapons. When Fortuna and the Orb Vallis came along, the ability to build Kitguns, DIY secondaries, were also included, as was the ability to build your own MOA companion. If the tradition carries on, I fully expect the next open area to have a collection of make-your-own rifle and shotgun parts, and the open world after that will probably have pet cloning facilities and custom Sentinels. Right now though, it’s mostly just Kitguns and Zaws. Secondary weapons and… [Continue Reading]

Borderlands 2’s Intro Level is a Weird Thing

There are a lot of things I enjoy about the Borderlands series. The huge number of guns. The crazy builds and classes. The extreme amounts of chaos and death and destruction. The Bandit Technical vehicle with explosive barrel launcher. But there is something that gets in the way of all of that. Borderlands 2’s intro levels. The actual intro, which introduces you to the four non-DLC classes, is very nicely done. But then you get blown up and have to deal with the last surviving Claptrap unit. Thus begins a journey that can’t decide on how hard or easy to… [Continue Reading]

Not Always Black and White

Not everything is black and white. This is a phrase I find myself repeating a lot in pretty much any discussion. Very often, when we look at things, we see that the things we agree with, the things we like and the things we understand as being white. Good. Honest. True. At the same time, we see the unknown, the wrong, the dissenting opinion, as being black and false and evil. But that’s rarely the case. There are always oddities, caveats exceptions to rules and laws. Nothing is ever clear cut, nothing is ever black or white. Let’s take gambling… [Continue Reading]

Why Apex Legends is the Best Battle Royale

I previously covered PUBG and Fortnite on this channel, and you may have noticed neither of them stuck around for very long because I just couldn’t get into them. To be honest, I’ve never been a fan of the Battle Royale genre in general, but Apex Legends is seriously the first Battle Royale game that I’m finding legitimately fun on its own merits and I’m amazed that I can’t wait to start playing it even from the moment I’ve turned it off for the night. The developers have looked at all the things that usually make Battle Royales boring and… [Continue Reading]

Neverwinter – an MMO Based on D&D

One of the problems with having siblings is that, even as you reach adulthood, you never know what to play. You need a game that pleases everyone. When there’s three of you plus one extra person, it’s even harder. For example, two of you might want to play Overwatch while the other two want to play Team Fortress 2. Or maybe three of you play Warframe but one of you flat out refuses to touch it ever again. Perhaps you could all play Borderlands 2 but everyone’s sick of that damn intro area. Someone might suggest a new game and… [Continue Reading]
