On Comparing Healers in Video Games

A while back, a long while back, I wrote a handful of articles pitting various healer characters against each other in a weird healing and fighting sort of thing. It’s pretty fun taking characters from different games and throwing them at each other in a hypothetical fight. No one will ever know the true winner until every character in existence appears in Smash Bros or something, but you can make some interesting comparisons. Determining a winner though is much more easily done with characters that do a lot of damage. For example, comparing Widowmaker from Overwatch with the TFC Sniper… [Continue Reading]

Assorted Suggestions for Fighting Kuva Liches

Kuva Liches are in a weird situation right now. They’re a little bit tricky for newer players to deal with, they are a non-challenge and a nuisance for veterans with the right gear and they are a long, tedious slog for pretty much everyone. Creating a Lich is insanely simple and, honestly, defeating a Lich is really simple, it’s nothing more than trial and error. What with it being trial and error, the average Lich can take anything from half an hour to three hours to defeat, excluding time spent getting Requiem mods. That being said, here’s some tips for… [Continue Reading]

The Pros and Cons of Learning and Knowing Greek

Living and growing up on an island that everyone thinks is a Greek island but is actually a nation of its own, I found myself learning Greek and had pretty much no choice in the matter. In fact, I went straight into the Cyprus school system knowing like 3 words of Greek and barely capable of stringing a basic sentence together. I went into secondary school knowing basic words and sentences, mostly because the tiny little village school that had classes consisting of 4-10 students didn’t really have the facilities to help an older child learn a whole new language… [Continue Reading]

A Bunch of New Pokemon Have Arrived in Pokemon Go- Oh Look. Regionals.

I’m gonna be honest, I’m a little bit tired of regional Pokemon in Pokemon Go. They’re just so… unobtainable. There’s no reasonable way for the average person to ever actually do as the Pokemon games suggest and “CATCH ‘EM ALL!” because there’s no way most people to travel across the world in order to catch Pokemon that are all over the damn place. In the case of the recent batch of Unova Pokemon that have been released, there’s not too many, but anything over one regional is too many. I mean, I can kinda understand regional Pokemon if it’s just… [Continue Reading]

The Adventures of Orokin Chonk – An Ultra Buddy

When the upgraded buddy system came out in Pokemon Go, I found it absolutely adorable. I also had a big choice to make: which Pokemon should I use as my buddy? After all, they’ll be free to wander around, I’ll be feeding them berries and they’ll be earning candy and getting various boosts, like helping catch Pokemon and ultimately get a boost in CP. I had so many options. I could walk a Gible or a Litwick or one of the Generation 5 starters, which I need a lot of candy for. I could walk an evolved Pokemon that I… [Continue Reading]

Empyrean and the Lack of Any Actual Missions

I’m going to be honest, after a little bit of playing normal Warframe on and off, mostly to farm for Ivara Prime and try and get to Mastery Rank 28 (the title of Master), I’ve gone back to Empyrean and it’s all kinda… eh… Now, don’t take this the wrong way, flying a ship through space is pretty fucking cool, especially in a game where you are normally a bouncy space ninja with a gun. But there’s something wrong with Empyrean. I mean, there’s something wrong with Empyrean aside from the horrible resource economy… There’s only one mission type. Skirmish.… [Continue Reading]

Book Review: The Elder Scrolls Official Cookbook

For Christmas, I got a very strange selection of gifts that I absolutely adored. The most peculiar gift I got though was from my brother, which, as the title of this article suggests, was a cookbook, based on the Elder Scrolls universe. Written by Chelsea Monroe-Cassel, this book is part of a collection of cookbooks spanning a range of popular, fantasy themes like Game of Thrones and World of Warcraft. Brother, having seen how much time I’ve spent playing Skyrim, wisely picked this book out for me. And it’s a really, really nicely laid out book, with an obviously fantasy… [Continue Reading]

Kuva Liches Are So Dead

I made a mistake the other day. A big mistake. After doing some missions to help someone make some progress with their own Kuva Lich, I decided to roll the dice and get a new Kuva Lich, hoping for one of the Kuva weapons I don’t have. Well, I gambled poorly, getting a low percentage Lich with no Ephemera and a weapon I already had, and even worse it’s an electric Lich, because I thought Excalibur (you know, the Warframe with a flaming sword) would create a heat-based Lich rather than an electric one. Oh, and to make matters far,… [Continue Reading]

On The Increased Chances To Catch Shinies in Pokemon Go

Pokemon Go was my third real look into Pokemon, outside of the old trading card game when I was very young and the anime with Ash and his omnipotent Pikachu, which I have watched both in English and in really badly dubbed Greek in which all the characters shared two voices. Technically, it’s the first proper Pokemon game I ever played, mainly because I just had all the wrong consoles, namely being a Playstation and PC person. This though has conditioned me to see super rare aspects in normal Pokemon games, like Shinies, Mythicals and Legendaries, in a completely different… [Continue Reading]

Dead Articles

Being a new year and a new decade, sometimes I think about clearing out all the backlogs and finishing off a lot of unfinished stuff. After all, every time I log in to the Daily SPUF to write an article, I am met with the same old message, the same reminder that there are nearly a hundred articles sitting in the Drafts section, unwanted and unloved. The same goes for the Pending section, which is currently sparsely populated with four mediocre backup articles that I can schedule if I really fuck up and don’t have anything else to publish. But… [Continue Reading]
