What To Do With Old Frames?

With the release of Nezha Prime, I have a decision to make. What do I do with my old Nezha? After all, I have a nice, new, shiny Nezha Prime to play with. My old Nezha needs somewhere to go. But I’ve had this old Nezha for three years now! He’s been forma’d and upgraded and all sorts! What can I do with him?

Well, let’s have a look at our options.

Flat out delete old Nezha

You can sell a lot of items in your game for credits. This is done via your inventory, a completely separate place to your arsenal. In fact, I’ve made small fortunes in the past, selling off all those Oberon and Harrow parts that clutter up my inventory. Here, you can just flat out sell your Warframes as well, freeing up some Warframe slots.

You don’t get much for selling a Warframe though. In fact, aside from the slot, you basically get nothing at all. The meager credits you get just aren’t worth it. And, funnily enough, you get more credits for selling a primed Warframe anyway.

Nezha's butt is best butt.
Nezha’s butt is best butt. Would you really want me to delete this butt?

Feed Nezha to Helminth

My other option would be to subsume my old Nezha using the Helminth system. In doing so, I would gain one of his abilities and be able to stick it on another Warframe. For Nezha, I would get Firewalker, Nezha’s first ability. It’s not the most useful ability but it does look damn cool on other speedster frames. Gauss for example already has some fire in his kit and dashes around, but it’s hard to choose what ability he’d sacrifice for Firewalker. Titania on the other hand is a very nice choice for Firewalker, as it works while she flies around in Razorwing form as well.

So subsuming seems like a good idea. Sure, I’ll be killing a Warframe, but I’ll get something useful out of it, right?

Except… small problem here. I’ve already subsumed a Nezha. When the Helminth system came out, I went and grabbed a ton of easy-to-build Warframes to feed to Helminth, and Nezha was one of them. So I can’t feed my existing Nezha to Helminth even  if I wanted to.

Keep Nezha anyway

I guess this is my last option. I’ll just keep my old Nezha, with his forma and Exilus slot and Orokin potato. It feels bad deleting a frame I have put time and effort into. But the thing is, Nezha isn’t even that hard to obtain. You can just buy him from a clan dojo and build him in your foundry. Despite that, I still don’t want to delete my old Nezha, because I’ve not just used resources on him, but I’ve also made memories of him.

Okay, those memories are mostly me cheesing a Lua Spy mission and some random shenanigans in various missions, but still, happy memories. And I’m a sentimental bastard.

This problem though will become more and more prevalent as time goes on. Wukong wasn’t too bad because Wukong also received a rework alongside his Prime, so there was a reason to get a new, shiny Wukong and build that. Inaros on the other hand is a frame loved by many, and it was hard for some people to ditch a strong, early quest frame. I still have my old Inaros.

Moving forward though, we have frames like Khora, Nidus and Octavia, all of whom are strong frames and almost certainly have been heavily invested in, even more so than existing frames (except maybe Mesa). The question is, do you delete those too? Do them subsume them? Or will people just end up keeping multiples?

I’m the minority, I have the space, experience and sentimentality to keep these frames. But for others, it’s still a hard decision to make.
