Still Thinking I Am A Noob

My current rank right now in Warframe is Legendary 1. With the Sisters of Parvos update, there was enough new mastery to go past True Master. In fact, there is so much new mastery that it adds a chunk towards Legendary 2. No matter how I look at things, I have spent way, way too much time playing Warframe. I may not be a founder, but I have been part of the space ninja roller coaster for a while. Deimos, Fortuna, the Plains of Eidolon, I experienced all of that.

Yet something has been bothering me lately. Well, something aside from my burn out from video games in general.

I’m a Legendary 1 player but I still feel like a noob.

Seriously, sometimes I wonder how I even made it this far. While sometimes I have no problem getting around, other days, almost at random, I seem to suck. I’ll fuck up jumps, run out of energy or just overall be not very good. Or I’ll completely scuff up my modding and bring the wrong elements to the fight. The amount of times I’ve forgotten about the optimal element choice for Ambulas or Lephantis is insane. I’ve also had some troubles with defeating Sisters of Parvos. But, then again, they are INSANELY tanky.

Most of my builds are also rather underwhelming. While I do forma weapons, I rarely touch the forma for anything else. I still haven’t used an Umbral Forma despite having 14 of them. My builds are basic and often kinda dumb. Especially for more popular frames like Mesa.

Dying is also something I feel is noob-y. I’m Legendary 1 and dying? That shouldn’t happen. Okay, sure, it’s just a game, but it completely ruins my mood if the death is stupid enough. I should know better.

Then again, even dying at Legendary 1 in a sortie is nothing compared to my most embarrassing death. The one and only time that I have seen a [DE] person in a mission was in an exterminate fissure. As they loaded in, the first thing they ever saw was an MR25 Volt instantly blow himself up with a Kuva Bramma. It was so embarrassing, but I like to think that my insta-nuking myself helped in a tiny way to change explosive weapons and how they work.

It doesn’t help that I still use my Starter Volt.

I mean, how many people keep their starter frames? I assume not that many, especially since Excalibur gets a free upgrade. While Mag and Volt Prime are kinda hard to get, there are plenty of other frames to choose from. A more typical player will choose Excalibur and get their hands on a Rhino early on. Mag at least drops from Phobos, but Volt is locked behind a clan. I LOOK like a noob, which probably adds to my feeling like a noob as well.

On the other hand, my rank is Legendary 1. In fact, I used the exact same Volt on both the MR1 and the MR31 tests. My Volt is actually properly modded and forma’d. Seeing a normal Volt in places like Elite Sanctuary Onslaught or Steel Path missions is a very strange occurrence.

Not that anyone really notices.

I’ve actually been using my normal Volt for about a year now, and both before and after I reached True Master. In al this time, no one has really noticed since my normal Volt is quite highly decorated. Shiny armour, non-default skin and plenty of shiny Prime or Prisma gear. And not a single person has stopped to ask why a Legendary 1 player is using a basic Volt. Literally no one, from fellow Legendary 1 Tenno all the way down to freshly awoken Smolts and MR0 Excaliburs.

Maybe I’m just trying too hard and worrying too much. It’s okay to fuck up and be a noob sometimes, after all…
