Treating Myself with a New Pair of Wings in Warframe

The other day, I was browsing through my fashion loadouts for Volt. As you might expect, I have already bought the extra loadout slots for both Volt and Volt Prime. However, as I was trying to work out a new look for the only Tennogen skin I own, I stumbled across a Tennogen Syandana. All of a sudden, I had a desperate need to buy the Night Hunter Wings Syandana. I just had to have it, it works so well on my already-infested Volt look.

So, for the first time in ages, I decided to treat myself. I went and bought myself a fabulous pair of wings.

Look at it. It’s beautiful.

“But wait, Medic, you already had a wing Syandana!”

I actually have three winged Syandanas now. As well as the Night Hunter Syandana, I also own the Icarius Syandana and the Naru Syandana. Funnily enough, the first time I saw the Icarius Syandana, I also had an urgent desire to buy that one as well. Out of those original two, I much prefer the Icarius Syandana because it is more dragon-like. Naru is an awesome Syandana, but I feel like it hangs a bit too low. The wing effect is cool, and I love how both it and Icarius feel somewhat Corpus-y. Naru though has odd colour channels and looks less appealing when not in use. It’s also a bit small on larger Warframes.

The Night Hunter scratches a particular itch.

However, both those Syandanas are blown out of the water by the Night Hunter one. The Night Hunter perfectly matches that somewhat eldritch, horrific, draconic look. While it does have an infested look at first glance, the detail and design of it are just gorgeous. I can’t really describe it though, as it’s somehow both infested and not infested at the same time.

Either way, I am glad that the Night Hunter was added. I’d been following it on and off in the Steam Workshop for Tennogen items. There, we had a lot of back and forth as the amazing artist tweaked its style. The Night Hunter Nidus skin did come out first, and I was tempted to get that as well. Then again though, I hardly play Nidus. It’d be a bit of a waste.

“What about the Eros Wings Ephemera?”

I’ll be honest, the Eros Wings are almost too… fancy, I guess? At the very least, the Eros Wings don’t match the rest of Warframe that well. Yes, they are flat-out angel wings, but I don’t angel wings. What also annoys me though is that sometimes the wings fade out, and sometimes they do. But other times, the Eros wings don’t fade away completely and have some sort of weird artifact thing on them. Either way, the Eros wings are just too big and cumbersome for general use.

The Eros wings also have to be based on your attachments. This makes them pretty hard to colour, especially if you want the wings to not be the same colour as your armour. Syandanas are generally better because you can colour them separately from the rest of your armour.

Please give us options

The main downside with all three Syandanas is that they are only fully-stretched out while you are jumping. The rest of the time, all three fold up against your Warframe’s back, so they don’t interrupt so much. After all, the third-person view can easily be blocked, and it can affect your aiming. I’d at the very least want an option to toggle the wings as always open or always closed. We have a toggle for Primed parts but not much else.

At the end of the day though, I am glad I treated myself. I’d been eyeing the Night Hunter Syandana for a while and it was definitely worth it.
