The Best Non-Warframe Specters

Warframe can seem quite odd at times. But one of the things I find particularly odd are Specters. Not just Warframe Specters, but random other specters too. While I have already discussed Warframe specters (and done so quite a bit), I haven’t really mentioned the handful of other specters we can use. And if you play Warframe with enough random characters, you can obtain a lot of these specter blueprints with ease, as they mostly drop from Syndicate attacks.

What’s interesting though is that we actually have some backstory when it comes to specters. They were originally the brain child of Parvos Granum, and he developed specters to the point that he has hundreds of them in the Granum Void. And I assume he also made many a specter out of Protea, the Warframe assigned to looking after him.

However, us mere Tenno can only use one Specter at a time. The question is, what specters should we use?

Shield Osprey

The humble little Shield Osprey isn’t the most useful thing here, but with shields now being vaguely more meta, it’s nice to have someone watching your back. Before we got Shield Gating, the Shield Osprey wasn’t ever really useful. I mean, even now it’s not the most useful but it has niche uses. The little guy can also provide shielding for operatives in higher level missions.

Unfortunately, the Shield Osprey is vastly inferior to our next specter.

Ancient Healer

Ancient Healers seem like a waste of space at first glance. They rarely manage to kill anything and hobble around, randomly shouting at things. However, as a specter, the Ancient Healer actually gives buffs the same way an enemy Ancient Healer will. An Ancient Healer specter not only lets out a pulse of healing energy, but it gives you some damage reduction too.

Clem

Clem.

Grakata.

Clem.

Jokes aside, Clem Clones are great. They don’t have much in the way of utility, but those Grakatas really help a lot. In fact, you can actually see for yourself just how deadly a Clem Clone is. If you try to use a specter in a Nightmare Mission, that specter will immediately turn on you and try to kill you. A Clem Clone at a high enough level can turn a Warframe into Swiss cheese in seconds.

On Call Crew

While the other specters give you a little bit of help, nothing beats the crew mates you have on a Raijack. While on your Railjack, your crew will do whatever job you gave them. But in normal missions, if you are using an On Call guy, they can do huge damage depending on how you kit them out. They feature way, way more customizing over all specters (aside from Warframe ones) but overall do more work. You can speak to Ticker and get a perfect guy with good stats, and you can choose what to arm them with.

More importantly, the On Call Crew is consistent. After all, they use our own, already modded weapons, and can be coloured to match your Warframe, if you wish. It’s a shame an On Call guy only lasts 3 minutes. But then again, considering how powerful they are, I can see why…
