Three Days is Too Much

Most things in Warframe come from your foundry. The foundry is a miracle piece of technology that takes blueprints and crafts them into Warframes, weapons and even space ships. For what looks like a small 3D printer, the Foundry does a lot of work.

But in order to make these items, we Tenno need to be patient. Building things in the foundry uses real life time. For example, building a Health Restore pad takes 1 real life minute, while Kitgun and Zaw parts require an hour per piece. Some items take a full 24 hours to finish building, such as Archwings.

There is one thing though that takes far, far too long to build: our Warframes themselves.

More time than anything else in Warframe!

To build a Warframe, you need to craft its three components first. The Neuroptics, Systems and Chassis all take 12 hours each to build. Once you have those, you can build your Warframe. It takes 3.5 days to build a usable Warframe. Three and a half real life days is the minimum wait time to build any Warframe (except Umbra). That is a huge amount of time, more than everything else.

And that’s not even including the three required components, all of which require time as well. On top of that, you also have to farm for the component blueprints. A farm for one Warframe can easily take a very long time, especially if you get unlucky while farming for components. Once you get all the parts you need, it sucks knowing you have to wait 3.5 days to get the whole Warframe finished.

A potentially easy fix

Thing is, it’s really easy to decrease the build times. Just make building the final Warframe cost 1 day instead of 3 days. Even a 2 day wait is far superior to a 3 day wait. If that’s too much, I’d rather have Warframe components take an hour to build, matching the time of Kitguns and Zaws.

At the very least, Warframe components should be like Forma: taking 23 to build instead of 24. That one less hour helps massively if you play on a limited schedule. Otherwise you end up pushing build times backwards for ages.

Either way, it’s all too much of a wait.

It puts some players off

Frankly, after managing to not only find but also build a Warframe, having to wait 3 days just to use it is a major pain in the ass. The 3 day wait already put off some of my friends, who just wanted their damn Rhinos. Heck, when I started, I was put off the wait as well, not enjoying the Excalibur I had. If it wasn’t for me making a fresh account and having friends to play with, I may not have continued playing.

However, at the end of the day, DE make money off new Warframes and people purchasing them via the store. They also make money from people rushing builds. So it’s unlikely that the 3 day wait will ever change. That being said, it might help people stick around if their first 1-3 Warframes only take 24 hours to build.

In the meantime though, I’d recommend against rushing Warframes. While the wait IS long and tedious, it’s almost never worth rushing anything in the foundry…
