More Legendary Pokemon in the Wild Seems Like a Cool Idea

One of the more interesting things about the Johto tour was the appearance of Legendary Pokemon in the wild. Mimicking the behavior from the original games, we had the Legendary Beasts spawning in the wild, with a 99% chance to flee. However, that got me thinking. Why don’t we have wild Legendary Pokemon?

Not all Legendaries, of course.

We can’t have Mewtwos spawning everywhere now, can we? I mean, we could totally have Mewtwo spawning everywhere, but I don’t think the developers or the shareholders would appreciate that. However, other, somewhat lesser Legendary Pokemon could be interesting. After all, there is more than one Heatran and it can be gendered, so why not stick that in the wild?

Of course, the one downside is that wild Pokemon have wild IVs. Whenever you do a raid for one, its stats can be no lower than 67% IVs, and it is always either level 20 or level 25, when weather-boosted. With wild IVs, you can get anything from a level 1 Pokemon, all the way to level 30, and its stats can be anything. However, I don’t think the wild stats would be a problem. After all, in the GO Battle League, you don’t always want a perfect Pokemon.

“But wait! What about the Lake Trio?”

Well, yes, the Lake Trio is kinda what I was thinking of. But the Lake Trio are kinda, well, boring. And, more importantly, they are split geographically across the planet. While sure, I could find a Mesprit in the wild here in Europe. But getting Azelf and Uxie is still very difficult to obtain, since the only way to get them is via remote raids or, well, flying to both the Americas and Asia.

With additional wild Legendary Pokemon, I wouldn’t want them to be split up. Because regional Pokemon really suck. There’s no reason to split any Pokemon up. Actually, now I’ve said that, there’s two reasons. The first is probably some sort of Pokemon lore thing. The second reason is money.

They’d probably flee anyway.

The trouble is that catch chances for Legendary Pokemon are very low. Even getting a Legendary Pokemon from a raid can be difficult to catch, like the Deoxys I solo-ed a while back. And during the Johto event? 99% of the Legendary Doggos fled instantly. Only a lucky few managed to catch the wild Legendary Pokemon, and even then, the reason why they did catch was due to insanely good luck. I’m pretty certain that, if this was ever implemented for other Pokemon, they would still have the stupidly high chance to flee.

Assuming they’d ever spawn.

Let’s be honest with ourselves though. This is never actually going to happen. And even if it did happen, most players would probably never realize it. After all, I’ve been playing since the Lake Trio were released and I have never seen a Mesprit. Nor have I ever found an Unown in the wild. The only Unown I have are the ones released during big events, a few of which were paid.

Heck, for all I know, maybe wild Legendary Pokemon are already implemented, but they’re so insanely rare that no one has ever seen one.

Still, at the end of the day, it’d be nice to catch a Legendary Pokemon outside of a specific raid…
