Leveling A Titan

My Warlock character in Destiny 2 is actually very old. I’m pretty sure I had it before Destiny 2 became free-to-play. She is a hideous, female Exo with yellow head parts sticking out, and always keeps her helmet on. This character has been through a lot. She blundered her way through Forsaken. Then she shivered around Beyond Light. Now she is having second thoughts about The Traveler. Might not be as much as some Guardians, but it’s been a long journey.

However, there are a few things that my Warlock always missed out on. Not so much in historical events, more in the way that my Exo Warlock just, well, generally exists. Warlocks tend to be frail characters, glass cannons that nuke things, making nice puddles and going all Emperor-Palpatine-y occasionally. She has a generic loadout and brings pretty much the same thing to every event. A void bomb for general usage and a fancy well of radiance when doing team stuff.

While doing all of this, my Warlock has a jumping problem and accidentally throws herself off ledges on the regular. Which seems weird because, on the character screen, my Warlock appears to just float all on her lonesome. In fact, jumping puzzles take twice as long as everyone else because of my Warlock’s lack of skill.

So, after much um-ing and ah-ing, I finally took my brother’s advice and started a Titan.

Already, things are better

I made another Exo, except male. I’d actually not heard my character’s voice for a while and forgot that, rarely, our Guardians do actually talk a tiny bit. Thankfully I am quite happy with how my Titan looks. Unlike my female Warlock. It’s a fresh start either way, time for something new.

It didn’t take long for me to realize how much more… fun the Titan is. Actually, I know exactly when I realized Titan was more fun, when I punched some poor unlucky Fallen in the face. Compared to my Warlock’s rather frail slap effect, it felt good to get behind some good, muscular energy. I also found Titan’s jetpack a bit more intuitive than Warlock’s floaty jumping thing. It does need some more time for me to get used to it, but flying upwards is much easier. More importantly, I have less momentum when I use my jetpack. Warlock’s jumping can easily get you thrown around and off ledges. Something I have done many, many times.

There’s still a lot that needs doing though, and it’s going to be a long, slow process. I’ve got to get my Titan up to 1500 at least, so I can play around with it a bit more. The most important thing I need is better armour, but so far the game is just giving me guns. On the plus side, the grind will be a lot easier since I can throw some of my Warlock’s power level 1500 weapons in my vault, so that my Titan can use them too.

Frankly, I should have made a Titan sooner. I enjoy being a brawler and punching or bashing things in the face. And there’s so much more fun and amusing stuff to play with. I can’t wait to punch more things…
