A Massive Sea of Thieves Adventure on the Stormcloud

The other day, the Stormcloud set off from an outpost, ready for adventure. The plan was simple: get supplies, then make our way towards leveling up Reapers. After a somewhat unenjoyable session the day before, there were high hopes that our new session would be better. Those high hopes were very quickly met, and became one of our biggest and best adventures yet. Simply put, it was insane.

So here’s what happened.

A Calm Beginning

Our day started off quite simple. We raised our flag as Reapers, then set off to get supplies. The first thing we did was take down a ghost fort, followed by taking on a skeleton fleet. Things were a little tricky at first, since we were three people, waiting for a fourth. But of course, the sailors of the Stormcloud coped anyway, and didn’t worry too much about either the fort or the skeleton armada. As far as we were concerned, this was just a normal day, and once we had reached rank 5 with the Reapers, we were ready to go hunting.

A Weird Ship

Quite quickly, we found ourselves with quite a bit of loot. We had FOUR grog chests, alongside quite a few other bits and pieces. While on our voyage, we stopped briefly to get a Reapers’ Chest. Not only did we find more loot, but I found a fifth grog chest. The grog chests needed to be sold, but not at the Reapers’ hideout. So we made our way to the Golden Sands outpost to sell them.

On our way though, a mysterious ship was barrelling towards us. Of course, we swiftly sunk the threat, before realizing there was no threat at all. The ship was completely empty. No one around, what so ever. However, despite not killing anyone, we managed to pick up a rank 5 Athena’s Fortune emissary flag. We had to be quick to sell it, since there were almost certainly other ships around.

During this time, we got our fourth member, and we had a full crew.

“We’ll be bac-” *disconnects*

As we headed back to the Reapers’ Hideout, it turned out that someone was following us. They looked like another Reaper ship and were definitely aggressive. So the Stormcloud prepared itself for battle and… defeated this toxic enemy ship with ease. The crew of said ship quickly shouted that they’d be back as soon as possible to fight us again. But frankly, that was a hollow threat. If they’d put up a better fight, then maybe they might have been scary. But this ship came back multiple times and just died over and over. Up until they eventually gave up and disconnected.

A Weird Alliance

However, that weird ship wasn’t gone. It was now unmoving, and only had one player on it. Turned out they were in an open crew and got stuck with two assholes. This last guy though, he was pretty chill, and wanted to hang out with us. So… we just let him hang out. In fact, the nice guy helped out with various chores like fixing holes and raising the anchor. And when his crew re-filled with new randoms, we started a new alliance. Two Reapers ready to go.

The Ashen Lord

Since we were close by, we decided to fight an Ashen Lord. Might as well, we always need more loot. With two crews helping (and other people joining the open crew ship), we swiftly killed the Ashen Lord and made off with plenty of chests. I kinda got lost on this island somehow, not sure why. But when we had finished picking up chests and stuff, we decided to do a Fort of Fortune.

We did try help the other ship level up their Reapers rank, but they ended up stuck on level 4. Oh well, that was fine.

More Reapers?

After the Ashen Lord, we once again found ourselves carrying too much loot. But at the same time, we wanted to do a Fort of Fortune alongside our Alliance buddy. So we told the other crew to make their way to the fort, and that we’d join them once we sold our stuff. So we started making our way back to the Reapers’ Hideout… only to see another rank 5 Reapers emissary. And it was charging at us.

Of course, we all rushed into position, ready to attack and… well, nothing happened. The other Reapers suddenly adjusted their aim and went straight past us, as fast as they could go. We would have turned around, but we had selling to do.

An Even Weirder Alliance

Turns out, while we were selling, our alliance buddy had befriended two more ships. And somehow, we were ALL Reapers. And one of the befriended ships was none other than the rank 5 Reapers who had charged past us. It turned out, they were planning to attack us, but they recognized Bacxaber’s name, from his Youtube channel where he eats ships for breakfast. This caused them to panic, dump most of their loot and speed off before we could turn around and catch them. Once they joined our alliance though, they calmed down and were fine.

We also had a bit of a switch on the Stormcloud. One of our crew left because of a headache, but we quickly grabbed another friend to take his place.

Fort of Fortune

With four ships now in an alliance under our flag, things were getting interesting. We quickly raced to the Fort of Fortune, where the rest of our small army had just got started on killing the Ashen bosses. Without hesitation, we all jumped in. With three ships (one had wandered off briefly), we took down the fort. It was a hugely chaotic battle, with kegs exploding everywhere and tons of respawning skeletons. It took us a while (I blame the kegs), but we managed to beat the Ashen Lords and start looting. Before we started separating out loot though, we all came together for a picture.

Suddenly, a keg exploded behind us, killing everyone in a single explosion. This lead to perhaps the fullest Ferry of the Damned ever, which was now crowded with recently blown up Reapers. We all had a laugh, then started packing up, picking loot up and getting everything on board our ships.

Going Our Separate Ways

For the last time in this session, we made our way back to the Reapers’ Hideout, again flush with cash. We sold everything off nice and quick, and the ally ship that was with us let is have their rank 5 Reapers flag. From that adventure, we made about 600-700k in profit each, and I climbed from rank 44 to rank 49.25 in the Reapers faction.

Our journey ended at an outpost, alongside the crew of one of the other alliance ships. We ended the day with style, in a cool bomb fight, as is tradition for the Stormcloud. With that, we waved goodbye to our friends, then returned back to reality. Where it was 7:15am for me. Turned out that we’d been saying for over 6 hours! It was definitely time for bed.

This whole adventure was amazing. Heck, just the rank 5 flag was cool. But this was something else. A one in a million adventure. I can’t wait to experience more crazy Stormcloud adventures.
