An Announcement on Adverts

A while back, I got an email that I normally see on the regular. Lots of companies have sent me messages, saying they can get me to rank 1 of Google and make money with adverts and guest posts. Normally, I don’t do too much for these emails. They seem copied and pasted over and over, especially the guest post emails. However, occasionally, if I see an email that doesn’t look too suspicious, I’ll send them an email back, asking what guest posts they want or what services they offer. I rarely get a response from any of these.

One such company did pique my interest though.

At the very least, they put some effort into their email advert when writing it. They’d actually looked at the blog, read a few articles, actually emailed using a correct name and, well, they had nice things to say. This company in particular wanted to set up adverts on the site, and was wiling to split the profits 90-10, which was a lot lower than many of the other emails I’ve seen.

They also actually made the effort of continuing to reply to my emails. Which is nice.

Basically, this company wanted to help set up google ads on the Daily SPUF, and any money made from those ads, the revenue would be split 90% for us and 10% for them. Doesn’t really seem that hard, and they did offer a plugin for WordPress that would automatically place ads for us. But frankly, I wasn’t really convinced.

No adverts

We’re not going to have adverts. The last thing I want on my blog is adverts. They ruin the flow of websites, even if they do happen to be still images or something. Adverts are ugly and distracting, and I don’t want to adverts to distract readers. I’ve kept this website advert-free ever since I took over from thesupremecommander as the host of the Daily SPUF and I don’t want to change that. Plus, even when thesupremecommander was hosting, we had adverts and received pretty much nothing for them. I doubt they’ll work well now.

And on top of THAT, I’m someone who uses various ad-blockers. It’d be hypocritical of me to put ads on my site.

There’s only one money-related theme I’ve ever considered, and that is a donation button. However, I don’t think donations are for me. They seem too… beg-y for a blog about video games.

The cost is covered

Either way, no matter what I do, I do already have the server and domain name costs covered. The Daily SPUF will keep on running until I have no money or am dead. And both of those are a long, long way off. And I have written down in my what-if folder that some of my heritage be spent to keep the Daily SPUF running, even after I’m gone. That’s how dedicated I am.

In the mean time, the Daily SPUF will still be here, with daily articles and all of that nonsense. No ads or anything, just pure articles and the occasional takeover whenever it’s April 1st. We might also get around to making the odd SPUF of Legend video as well.

So, until next time, look after yourselves, and enjoy an ad-free experience.

Medic

Medic, also known as Arkay, the resident god of death in a local pocket dimension, is the chief editor and main writer of the Daily SPUF, producing most of this site's articles and keeping the website daily.
