A Ramble About Updating Things

Everything these days seems to need updating. It’s rare that something will just go on working without any sort of outside influence, at least online. And since everything is online now, it’s easier to update things. But frankly, updates for the things I regularly use have been pissing me off lately. Recently, I got a notification to update the theme we use here on the Daily SPUF. It’s a pretty simple thing, nothing unusual. Unfortunately though, an update to the theme actually kinda broke the website. For some reason, the menu was broken and massive icons filled the screen. I… [Continue Reading]

Summer 2023 – A TF2 Update

So that Team Fortress 2 update is finally here. It’s nothing super special, but it’s here. They didn’t even really give the update a proper name. It’s just Summer 2023. First off, we got a lot of maps. We actually got 14 new maps, which is the most maps from any update so far. I can see why they added so many though, because, well, they are easy to add. Sure, a lot of work and time goes into creating these maps, but for Valve, they are super easy to implement and add to the game. I’d actually guess that… [Continue Reading]

These New Warframe Updates are Pretty Neat

The other day, I somehow spent well over four hours playing Warframe and its latest update, Citrine’s Last Wish. I was playing the new Mirror Defense mode, farming for both the new Warframe and her weapons, as well as a currency of gems, to buy some miscellaneous bits and pieces from Otak’s new shop. This update, Citrine’s Last Wish, is somewhat simple. It’s not a huge update, just a little update, mostly to keep us occupied while we wait for the Duriviri Paradox. But the update was also plenty good. We got a new Warframe, a little bit of fluffy… [Continue Reading]

Things I’d Like to See in the Summer TF2 Update

Editor’s note: This article was written way before Valve decided to subtly change some text, indicating that the summer update was not a real update, just another cosmetic one. So feel free to ignore all of this since it’s no longer going to happen. The other day, something amazing happened. A blog post appeared on the TF2 website. Not just any blog post, but one that had good news in it and wasn’t about some sort of community event. This blog post was a call to arms, a rallying cry to anyone who makes items on the Steam Workshop, to… [Continue Reading]

A TF2 Blog Post? A TF2 UPDATE?

What the hell? What is going on here? Is it the end times? It must be, because, after years of silence and nothing but crates, the Team Fortress 2 dev team have made a blog post on their website. A very special blog post. A post aimed at Steam Workshop creators, asking them to start creating all sorts. And, most importantly, the blog post confirms that we will get a REAL update this summer. Now, we’ve actually technically been having updates for the last few years, but all these updates have been mostly cosmetic. If you’re lucky, you’d get a… [Continue Reading]

Planetside 2 Has a New Continent

Planetside 2 just recieved its first new map in eight years! Oshur has had a long and checked development history. Originally a collection of islands in the original Planetside, it was teased numerous times throughout the sequel’s history. A single developer, Wrel, developed the first iteration entirely in his spare time. Unfortunately, engine updates eventually made his version unusable. The newer version was built from the ground up, and boasts a unique island-based gameplay unlike the other maps we’ve seen. Platoons in Paradise And the new setting has been awesome from an infantry grunt’s perspective. The tropical aesthetic is a treat… [Continue Reading]

My Predictions about the New War

15th December, 2021. After three years of waiting, it’s finally here. The New War. An update that puts the War back into Warframe. This update is going to be huge and it will have ramifications across the entire game. The main part of this update though is the New War quest, which potentially have massive effects in both the Origin System and the Tau system where the Sentients have been coming from. The weird thing though is that, aside from the first 30 minutes, we know pretty much nothing about the New War. Okay, yes, we know it will have… [Continue Reading]

My Worries about the Sisters of Parvos

I haven’t really done a speculation article in a while. Mostly because my speculations are always wrong. With Warframe, pretty much anything can happen in an update. But this isn’t so much speculation as it is worries and concerns. Ever since we got Call of the Tempestarii, I’ve been worried about the Sisters of Parvos update. After all, it’s a massive update that has been pushed back repeatedly. Too long in the oven? To get an idea how long this update has been pushed back, we were teased ephemeras and weapons for Sisters of Parvos last year. We also had… [Continue Reading]

These New Corpus Railjack Missions Feel Rather Weird…

With Corpus Railjack, we got a bunch of new Railjack missions. Unfortunately, these aren’t just Railjack missions. They’re part Railjack, part normal Warframe. Weirdly, these are curious combination of the two. There’s definitely some good and bad things about them. In fact, I’ve already talked about the defense mission before. But I feel like we kinda need to talk about all of these. It’s definitely not all negative. Just… confusing. These missions do kinda feel like taxi rides. Every new Corpus Railjack mission works in pretty much the same way. You destroy something to get access to the Corpus ship… [Continue Reading]

Rest in Peace, Oberon Parts for Credits

The one time I’m busy and preoccupied with other stuff, a Warframe update hits. This one has been worked on for a while, and is basically completely and utterly reworking Railjack. Not only do we get the Corpus stuff we were originally teased with, but we’re getting a lot of “QOL” stuff too. However, the thing I want to address is another, related change in the Railjack Refitted update. Oberon parts no longer drop from Eximus Enemies. This is a pretty mind-blowing change. For someone old like me, it’s going to be insane, no longer having a cache of Oberon… [Continue Reading]
