The Same Volt I Started With

Normally, when an older player gets a new Prime Warframe, their normal version is chucked away. Some will get eaten by the Helminth, but others might just be sold entirely, especially if they have already been subsumed. After all, inventory space is limited, and it’s nicer to keep the new, spangly golden Warframe, rather than keeping the old one.

Me though? Even though I have Volt Prime, I still use a normal Volt. Not just any Volt though. I use the same Volt that I picked in Vor’s Prize. I mean, why not? The only real difference is how much energy you have, so why not keep the fully functional Warframe that I have already invested Forma into?

In the past

I’ll be honest though, I did use Volt Prime for a lot of my progress. I don’t really remember when I got my hand on Volt Prime, but it was used pretty much all the time as I worked through Warframe’s varying quests. Well, most of them. I used Loki for The War Within. It wasn’t until later on that I started using my original Volt, once I’d started reaching higher and higher mastery ranks. My original Volt was used when I played the New War, and will probably still be my frame of choice when we get the Duviri Paradox too.

Fashion

But I actually have more than one Volt. A while back, before we were able to buy more loadout and cosmetic slots, I actually went and built 4 Volts, so I had plenty of space to customize my main Volt. If I did a nice design on one of the fashion-only Volts, I could then mimic it on my main Volt. Of course, this all changed a bit once we did get more cosmetic slots, but those extra Volts were useful. Then we got the [Look] command which made things even easier. But yeah, I still have all these Volts. I went and actually made a fifth Volt in order to subsume it, but the other Volts all remain as they are.

But why?

Back to my main Volt, it’s as forma’d up as you’d expect. It has four Forma in it and all the other fancy stuff – an Exilus slot, a catalyst and a focus lens. Functionally, it works exactly the same as my Volt Prime. And the reason why I still use my original Volt is because I’m a very nostalgic person who doesn’t really let go of things. I started Warframe with this Volt, I intend to continue using this Volt, and keep it on me until the end.

The second, and much smaller reason is that, well, I kinda hope someone might comment. After all, what IS a normal Volt doing in these missions? Combined with my mastery rank (Legendary Rank 2 currently), I imagine someone has thought “hmm, that ain’t right!” But after all this time, pretty much no one has commented on my usage of a normal Volt.

Then again, no one has commented on my atrocious colour scheme either. People are probably too busy doing missions to stop and have a look…
