A Weapon of the New War

I love bows. When I played Skyrim, before even really trying swords, I had an eye open for any bows lying around. Whenever I played Destiny 2, I looked for combat bows, because I found them fun. And in Warframe, there are many, many bows that I like. Even aabicus has a way of making use of bows! In my silly little head, using a bow and arrows is the best way to stab someone who is far away.

Or they are the best way to blow up someone who is far away. Simply put, bows are fun. And, when it comes to Warframe, I can happy recommend a bow or three to you. In fact, that’s also what I plan to do today.

WARNING! POTENTIAL NEW WAR SPOILERS INCOMING! LEAVE NOW IF YOU HAVEN’T DONE THE NEW WAR YET!

Nataruk Bow
A new bow, the Nataruk

Anyway, what was I talking about? Oh yes, bows! It’s actually quite interesting how bows appear in both fantasy and sci-fi media. In Warframe though, bows are among the best weapons in the game. Well, some of them. I’ve rambled about both the Lenz and the Kuva Bramma in the past, and I even ranked the entire Cernos family. And now, thanks to the New War, and, strangely, Hunhow, we have a new bow to play with.

Introducing the Nataruk

The Nataruk is a weapon given to us by Hunhow in the New War. It is a bow that fires spectral arrows, which don’t drop off over time like other bows. The Nataruk itself is made from the bones of Sentients and has three types of arrow, based on how much you charge it.

At first glance, this bow looks simple. But it has a strange mini-game design. Quick shots shoot normal arrows, but charged shots will create bigger arrows with punch through with bodies. There’s also a Perfect Shot, achieved by charging the bow to 2/3 completion, and this shot is even more powerful than a normal charged shot.

Charged and Perfect Shots are awesome

These shots are so cool though. You get such awesome explosions from them. The hitbox on these bolts are also quite large, meaning you can get away with things that you can’t on a normal bow.

The only real downside is that the Nataruk isn’t silent. It’s an alarming weapon, unlike most normal bows. It’s definitely in the same category as the Lenz and the Kuva Bramma.

However, there’s one last cool thing about this bow: The Nataruk has infinite ammo. Isn’t that neat?

Probably the best of the quest missions.

Most of the main quests gave us a weapon or two. The Second Dream started us off with the Broken War, the War Within treated us with a staff no one cares about, and the Sacrifice gives us the Skiajati. There’s also the Paracesis in there somewhere, but that damned weapon is a hell of its own. Compared to all these other quest weapons, the Nataruk is unique since it’s not a sword or staff. And it’s a powerful bow at that. I’d definitely say that Nataruk is the best quest weapon, and by a long way. The Rumblejack isn’t really worth talking about, sadly. Because it’s a dagger. And daggers suck.

At the end of the day, the New War is a sad, heavy tale. But having a godly bow does make that tale a bit lighter…
