Sandshrew Community Day

It’s been a while since I commented on a Community Day, but that’s mostly because, well, they’ve not been that interesting. The last Community Day before Sandshrew was Hoppip, a rather quiet little event. However, it was just before the Johto Tour, where all Johto Pokemon had their releases anyway. So, after a bunch of Johto stuff, which also comes along with Kanto stuff, you’d think we’d have a new shiny from elsewhere, right? You never know after all. There’s still a lot of Pokemon without their shinies that would work, right? A Buggy Day Oh look another Kanto Pokemon… [Continue Reading]

I Really, Really Want a Break From Kanto Pokemon

I was kinda hoping that, with the Kanto Celebration ending, we’d get a bit of a break from Kanto Pokemon. There’s 151 of them, making it one of the bigger regions with the most Pokemon. Out of the Pokedexes in Pokemon GO, only Unova beats out Kanto, with 156 Pokemon. That being said, there’s at least 300 Pokemon in other regions, and none of them get a look in. It’s… getting silly. Despite this event ending, we’re still getting Kanto Pokemon. Having a look at the upcoming March events, there’s STILL a heavy lean on Kanto Pokemon. Sure, we are… [Continue Reading]

Kinda Wondering What the Point of the Kanto Tour was…

So, now that the Kanto Tour is actually over and we’ve moved into the Kanto Celebration… I’m kinda wondering what the point of the Kanto Tour was. We had 12 hours of catching Kanto Pokemon, followed by a week of more Kanto. And that’s on top of all the Kanto-themed events we’ve had over the last few months. Not to mention the Kanto-themed Community Days. It was basically GO Fest but Kanto only. The Kanto Tour was interesting. Just like GO Fest, it was split into various hours, ‘visiting’ various towns and cities from Pokemon Red and Green. Pokemon spawned… [Continue Reading]

The Hectic Kanto Event

The Kanto Tour has come and gone in Pokemon GO and it was… a thing. There were a ton of bonuses, a ton of raids and a LOT of Pokemon to catch. But was it worth the €12 ticket price? And did everything actually work? Well, kinda. So much to do, so little time. We basically had lots of mini events running at the same time. Not only did we have a bunch of special raids, but we had special research and “today tab” research too. There was one mini-quest in the Today tab about battling NPCs, the shiny Ditto… [Continue Reading]

Mega Pokemon have arrived in Pokemon GO and they’re basically inaccessible!

Yay! Mega Evolutions have arrived! For Beedrill and the three Kanto Starters! Amazing! And three of them require huge amounts of raids to obtain! Woo! If you can’t tell already, I’m being somewhat sarcastic. While I had sat on my ass and hoped that maybe the data miners were wrong, well, they weren’t. Mega Evolutions aren’t some cool thing to unlock with your best buddy. It’s a grind that involves doing lots of raids. Raid, raid, raid. So, to get your Mega Evolution of choice, you need to do Mega Evolution Raids for the Pokemon you want to Mega Evolve.… [Continue Reading]

I am Loving these Throwback Challenges in Pokemon Go

Over the last few weeks, we’ve had a throwback event. The event has been split into parts, one for each of the current regions of Pokemon in Pokemon Go. We started with Kanto and, at the time of writing, are in the Sinnoh week. This will be followed by a Unova-based event. And, honestly, these events have been really fun! Special Tasks for each Region. Every region has a series of tasks that rewards a Legendary Pokemon at the end. Kanto gave us a Mewtwo with the exclusive move Psy Strike. Johto rewarded us with Ho-Oh and Earthquake. Hoenn’s task… [Continue Reading]
