A Thunderbirds Board Game

When I was a rather small kid, one of the TV shows we used to watch was Thunderbirds. This show was made using various puppets, rather than being animated as a normal cartoon. The premise of Thunderbirds was quite simple. A family called the Tracies ran International Rescue, and would go on adventures. There were six Tracies, the dad and five sons, all of whom had some pretty fucking cool aircraft, as well as a satellite in space, ran by the eldest kid, John Tracy. Everything in this show was animated with puppets and physical models, which were all pretty… [Continue Reading]

#SaveTF2

The first First Person Shooter I ever played was Left 4 Dead, followed by Garry’s Mod. When I bought Garry’s Mod, I had a choice, I could get Counter-Strike: Source or Team Fortress 2, two of the games needed to make Garry’s Mod work. Back then, Garry’s Mod required a Source game to run at all, and I picked the bright and colourful Team Fortress 2 over the rather dark and dusty Counter-Strike. That decision right there, my choosing Team Fortress 2, has utterly shaped me as a human being. Seriously. Team Fortress 2 changed my life. For the better.… [Continue Reading]

Warframe Weapons that I Completely Forgot About but Used to Use all the Time

The other day, I was looking back through some old Warframe screenshots when I made a sudden realization. My weapons these days are all powerful ones, like the Kuva Bramma or the Arca Plasmor. But I wasn’t always kitted up. There was a lot of time spent leveling up weapons then moving onto the next one. However, even with my many years of grinding the newest shiny, there were weapons that I loved which, unfortunately, ended up getting forgotten about. Here’s to a trip down memory lane for some of my old favourites. Rakta Cernos I’ve always liked bows, they’re… [Continue Reading]

Left 4 Dead – My First Game on Steam

I still vaguely remember buying Left 4 Dead. It was a long time ago. I was on holiday in the UK visiting my family. We were in the town where we used to live when I lived in the UK too, in the town centre, going through a gaming shop of some sort. I picked Left 4 Dead up for £15 and happily took it back to my grandma’s. I wouldn’t be able to replay until I returned home, a week or so later. That was also when I made my Steam account, which is now, what, 8 years old?… [Continue Reading]

Returning to One’s (Electric) Roots

It’s taken me a while, but I’ve finally reached the point that many older Warframe players are at, with a nice armory of weapons, a nice collection of companions, a maxed out Focus school, a cool-looking Space Kid and a wardrobe of Warframes ready to be taken on any mission. Well, almost. But sitting in the back of said wardrobe is an often forgotten little friend. My original starter Warframe, Volt. I never sold Volt, I could never bring myself to do it. He’d put up with me flailing all over the place, falling down pits and running into walls… [Continue Reading]

The 25 Year Old Love Letter

Sonic the Hedgehog started with a star-studded series for the Mega-Drive, now beloved classics; but his success in 2D was followed by a tortuously long downfall during and after the transition to 3D. But I’m not here to dwell on the painful history this time, but rather shine an optimistic spotlight on an absolutely incredible creation made by (mainly) two fans of the classics. With good reason, many had reached the conclusion that a good 3D Sonic game was an impossibility; an unattainable dream always out of reach. SEGA had failed to accomplish this vision in over two decades of… [Continue Reading]

Reviewing the Ratchet and Clank Movie

I waited a very long time to see the Ratchet and Clank movie, and now I’ve finally seen it, it’s time for a random review. But before I start, it’s worth pointing out two things. Firstly, I always liked the Ratchet and Clank games. I have Ratchet and Clank 1 and 3, and Ratchet: Gladiator for the PS2. I don’t own a PS3 or a PS4, so sadly I’ll never be able to play the console exclusive sequels, or the newly released Ratchet and Clank remastered for the PS4. Like everyone though, I’ve always disliked the Clank Only levels. I… [Continue Reading]
