On Nearly Perfect Pokemon

When it comes to catching good Pokemon, there’s always a hope that you’ll get a Pokemon with 100% IVs. Getting a Perfect Pokemon is a rare thing, although there are certain ways to increase your chances. These ways include purifying Pokemon, opening research and trading Pokemon, especially with lucky trades. However, the chances are still very low, and even with these options, it’s unlikely you’ll get a hundo. Well, unless you purify a shadow Pokemon with stats at 13 or higher. But you often don’t want to purify Pokemon as shadow Pokemon are stronger. But there are some Pokemon that… [Continue Reading]

Sandshrew Needs To Go Away

I’ve complained about individual Pokemon in the past. A while ago, I ranted about how Dragonite is ugly and fat and that Dragonair’s evolution makes no sense. Today, I am going to rant about another Pokemon. A Pokemon also from the Kanto region. In this article, we’re going to talk about Sandshrew. Now, normally, Sandshrew is an okay Pokemon. The name is a bit obvious, but eh, it looks alright. It’s a pretty basic rock/ground type. Sandslash is a bit on the ugly side, but I don’t mind it so much, since I still have a Sandslash I used back… [Continue Reading]

Adventure Week Was Pretty Good

If I’m honest, most of this year’s events in Pokemon GO have been average at best. For some reason, Niantic saves all the good events for various times of the year. February generally has a tour event and some nice anniversary stuff. August contains GO Fest and a variety of enticing events. October has Halloween and December has Christmas. Events in other months are generally not as big and can be quite lame. However, this year’s Adventure Week (which are normally in July) has been a pretty good event. Generally, Adventure Week (actually called Adventures Near and Far, but that’s… [Continue Reading]

Poliwag Community Day

I’ll be honest, I wasn’t exactly excited with this one. Poliwag isn’t the most popular Pokemon, and we recently had a water-type Pokemon for a previous community day – twice. In fact, I nearly forgot it was happening, and a lot of my friends weren’t interested either, some of which already had multiple Poliwag shinies. But I played a little anyway, and it was alright. A bit hot Here in Cyprus, it’s quite hot, especially at 2pm. Even with a bit of shade, I only played for about an hour. However, in that time, I managed to get five shinies,… [Continue Reading]

The Problem With The Blazing Trails Event

The Blazing Trails event ended on the 23rd, marking the end of probably one of the worst events in Pokemon GO for a long time. In this event, most players couldn’t even take part. The Blazing Trails event was supposed to introduce a new mechanic. But that mechanic didn’t even work. The new mechanic is the Route. Routes are player-made paths that you can follow, which give some sort of reward at the end and have Pokemon spawn among said routes. At least, that’s what’s supposed to happen. Many players found that following routes was tedious and were prone to… [Continue Reading]

Pokemon That Are Hard To Transfer

In Pokemon GO, you have rather limited storage space. A new player generally has enough space for 300 Pokemon and items. But there are a lot of Pokemon to collect. The default space allows for all of Gen 1 and Gen 2 to be collected, but most of the time, the Pokemon you pick up aren’t very good and often quickly get transferred. However, there are plenty of Pokemon which are a bit more valuable, and are much harder to transfer. As you play, you collect more and more Pokemon. While it’s easy to transfer any Pokemon with low stats,… [Continue Reading]

Spotlight Hours in Pokemon GO

Every Tuesday in Pokemon GO, we get a spotlight hour. During the spotlight hour, 99% of spawns turn into one specific species of Pokemon, starting from 6pm local time until 7pm local time. But are they worth doing? Or are they a waste of time? It depends on the Pokemon It really, really depends on the Pokemon. There have been all sorts of Pokemon in spotlight hours, ranging from Minun and Plusle to heavy hitters like Beldum. Generally though, the spotlight Pokemon is related to whatever event is currently going on. For example, during the last Rocket Takeover, Skorupi was… [Continue Reading]

Purifying 1000 Pokemon

Quite a while back, I mentioned how I defeated an absolute ton of Team Rocket grunts. I did this for two reasons: one, it was fun, and two, I wanted the platinum medal for defeating grunts. At the time though, I also mentioned how I needed to complete the Purification badge as well, but that would be a long, dull journey. Well, finally, over two years later, I managed to get the platinum medal for purifying Pokemon. And boy, did it take a while. But I finally did it. I now have the platinum Purifier medal. I have purified 1000… [Continue Reading]

On Constantly Running Out of Pokemon Storage

In order to play Pokemon GO, you need plenty of Pokemon storage. Even if you play very conservatively, you will eventually run out of Pokemon storage at some point or another. The base amount of storage simply isn’t enough for anything really, and almost every player will run into that same old message, telling you that your storage is full. Once your storage is full, there’s only two things you can do. The first is to go into your inventory and start transferring Pokemon, until you’re back under your limit. Amusingly, this popup can even happen when you’re one off… [Continue Reading]

Fennekin Community Day

It’s that time of year where we get another starter Pokemon for a Community Day. Fennekin is a cute little fiery starter, and the 21st was a chance to catch a huge number of them. However, we’ve had a lot of fire starter community days, so does Fennekin’s community day stand out? Was it any good? It’s alright. The community day had some nice features. Double candy and double stardust were nice bonuses, but for us, the weather wasn’t amazing. We had a few scattered showers, and the clouds were threatening to rain on us. We actually decided to walk… [Continue Reading]
