Medic’s Thoughts on Remote Raid Invites in Pokemon Go

You know what’s weird? Despite the ability to remotely invite people to raids being out for a while… I received my first raid invite only yesterday. Most of the time, it’s me who’s at the raid location, trying to invite other people. So, finally, I actually got to see what a remote raid via an invite felt like. It’s… good and bad. I’ll discuss both. The Good The best thing by far is that you can do raids nearly anywhere. As long as someone is at the raid, they can invite up to 5 other people. I’ve been invited to… [Continue Reading]

Elite TMs, Rarity and the Problems with Too Much Choice

According to the Silph Road, a list of all the moves on Elite TMs has been revealed. Over 100 Pokemon are going to be able to obtain legacy moves, via the Elite TM. That’s a lot of Pokemon. the list of moves and Pokemon is huge, so we’ve got a big question on our hands? What the hell do we use these Elite TMs on? What is worth it and what isn’t? Frankly, I don’t know. And the decision is even harder because these TMs are so inaccessible, and there are simply so many moves. You currently can only get… [Continue Reading]

A Worry About Remote Raid Passes

For obvious reasons, Niantic have had to make a lot of changes to Pokemon Go to ensure that people keep on playing and keep on spending money. Changes so far have included not needing to walk to enter the GBL, Incenses lasting 1 hour and reduced egg distances. A lot of these changes are beneficial, but some are questionable and some make no sense. After all, doubling gym range is only useful if you live near a gym. The most worrying thing though is the appearance of Remote Raid Passes. Now, firstly, this is speculation We’ve been given some information… [Continue Reading]

Latias Is Still A Bitch

Back in February 2019, I wrote an article saying how Latias is a little bitch of a Pokemon that was a pain in the ass in a few different ways. That was a little under a year ago, and there’s been a few changes in that time. But is Latias still a bitch? Yes. Yes she is. Just like last time the weird airplane dragon Pokemon appeared in raids, Latias popped out of nowhere, in the middle of an event and directly after an event with Ho-Oh and Lugia. The main difference this time is that Latias’s partner in crime,… [Continue Reading]

Oh, Hey, Shiny Mewtwo Is Here in Pokemon Go…

What was that? Is that the sound of Mewtwo coming around to kick my Pokemon’s asses as he reappears in level 5 raids for a week? Why yes, yes it is! As of Monday (well, Tuesday for people not in the Americas), Mewtwo is replacing Deoxys as the level 5 raid boss and, for the first time ever, he’s appearing in shiny form. Which means everyone wants him. Yeah, that sounds just about right, especially since I ranted about how Mewtwo isn’t that amazing when it comes to Pokemon Go. At least, he’s not as amazing as everyone assumes. And… [Continue Reading]

The Problems With The Legendary Beasts

Up until this summer, the Legendary Beasts have somewhat plagued Pokemon Go. They were in research breakthroughs for the longest of times, especially Suicune, which no one wanted. We had the Legendary beasts for ages and most people were somewhat tired of them. Over the summer, we did get three 3-hour raid events in which there was a chance to get shiny variants, but even then, they are still… a chore. Last week was a chance to get Entei, Suicune and Raikou in level 5 raids, but aside from that, most people have them from research breakthroughs earlier in the… [Continue Reading]

Splitting That One Free Raid Pass

In Pokemon Go, you get one free Raid Pass a day. That free Raid Pass can be used on whatever raid you want except for EX Raids, which require a special black EX Raid Pass. Once you use the free, orange Raid Pass, most of the time you have to use a Premium Raid Pass to do raids. That would be fine if you regularly buy Premium Passes or are flush with them after finishing the Special Research tasks. After all, it only takes two days of getting a full 50 coins to be able to buy a Raid Pass,… [Continue Reading]

On Living Close to Pokestops

Pokemon Go, more than anything, is a game that really improves or gets worse depending on where you live. The bigger the city, the closer to the USA you are, the better your experiences are while playing the game. Okay, that is a bit of a generalisation, but it’s basically true. If you play Pokemon Go in even a remotely rural area, then you have a massive disadvantage than someone living in a city. I didn’t realise how bad this was until someone I do local raids with showed me some screenshots and described his attempts at spoofing. Spoofing, for… [Continue Reading]

Tons of Useless Raids

The other day, in the three places across town that have 90% of all the city’s gyms, there were no interesting raids. None at all. So for the last few days, my free Raid Pass has gone unused. I’ll tell you what there were raids for though. Granbull. Four of them, in fact. Granbull, for those who can’t remember, is the final evolution of Snubbull, a small, pink clown dog Pokemon that spawns regularly whenever the weather is cloudy. Now, Snubbull has a really nice shiny form. It looks adorable. Granbull’s shiny form is mediocre though, mostly because Granbull is… [Continue Reading]

The Troubles of Organizing for Level 5 Raids

As I write this, there are two level 5 raids across the road. One at a blue gym, one at a yellow gym, both right next to each other. Normally people wouldn’t be fussed, as Cresselia has been the only level 5 raid boss lately and she’s not particularly useful, but between the 15th and the 18th, Ho-Oh and Lugia are appearing in raids. These are powerful Pokemon. They’re legendary Pokemon and are very desirable. Also they have shiny forms which are even more desirable. On top of that, they are pretty damn rare and haven’t really been available for… [Continue Reading]
