Being Too Harsh On The Pokemon We Catch

I did a raid the other day and caught a Mewtwo. In any other Pokemon game, that would be an amazing achievement. Heck, if I had done that with a small group of players, it also would have been an achievement. Really, catching a Mewtwo in general in Pokemon Go is an achievement because that bastard will jump up and down and bitchslap your Pokeballs away like nobody’s business. Yet when I checked the stats of my freshly caught Mewtwo, I was disappointed. It was another Mewtwo with somewhat mediocre stats. Another mediocre Mewtwo to throw on the pile. I… [Continue Reading]

Oh, Hey, Shiny Mewtwo Is Here in Pokemon Go…

What was that? Is that the sound of Mewtwo coming around to kick my Pokemon’s asses as he reappears in level 5 raids for a week? Why yes, yes it is! As of Monday (well, Tuesday for people not in the Americas), Mewtwo is replacing Deoxys as the level 5 raid boss and, for the first time ever, he’s appearing in shiny form. Which means everyone wants him. Yeah, that sounds just about right, especially since I ranted about how Mewtwo isn’t that amazing when it comes to Pokemon Go. At least, he’s not as amazing as everyone assumes. And… [Continue Reading]

On Articuno

I have way more pent up anger towards non-existent monsters than I have any real right to have. Just yesterday I was complaining about how Latias was a right little bitch, and now I’m about to go on another 500 word rant about another Pokemon. Today’s victim is Articuno, the first of the Legendary Birds from the Kanto region. One of the old originals. Basically, Articuno is a bastard. Okay, maybe I’m being a bit unfair. The main reason that Articuno is a bastard is that I have failed to catch Articuno for a very long time. Basically, in the… [Continue Reading]

Latias is a Bitch

All of a sudden, after the Lugia and Ho-Oh event and the Kyogre and Groudon event, there’s suddenly a Latias event. Just Latias. The red and white airplane dragon Pokemon. You know, the one that’s paired up with Latios, the blue and white airplane dragon Pokemon. This mini-event popped up out of the blue just as people were getting kinda hyped up for the Clamperl Research event. In fact, a lot of people didn’t even see the announcement as it kinda got buried by the Treecko Community Day announcement. So yeah, Latias is currently in Level 5 raids, somewhat sharing… [Continue Reading]

Research Breakthroughs in Pokemon Go

Back in early 2018, Niantic created Research Breakthroughs, a reward for doing field research tasks and doing a new one every day. Do 7 days worth of field research and you’re rewarded with an encounter with a mysterious Pokemon, which changed every month. First off you could get Articuno, then Zapdos, then Moltres, then the legendary doggos Raikou, Entei and Suicine, followed by the rather odd choice of Shedinja. If you timed your field research well enough, you could obtain four or even five of each Pokemon during the months in which they were available. In December 2018, Niantic announced… [Continue Reading]
