The Third Monkey Island Tall Tale was Fun

Finally, we got the third Tall Tale from the Monkey Island series. We finally get to properly help Guybrush and defeat LeChuck once and for all. But we’ve got a lot of work to do in order to save the day! And it all starts by going through a portal, to a mystical paradise. The island is fun to explore The Lair of LeChuck takes place not on Melee Island but Monkey Island. Monkey Island feels like a big place and has a lot of exploring to do on it. Most of the puzzle solving went on up here, and… [Continue Reading]

Krakens and World Events

In the Sea of Thieves, there’s always some sort of event going on. By ‘event’, I mean a world event, a timed, optional thing you can sail to and do. These events are situated somewhere in the game world, and you tend to have to sail to them to do them. World events appear one at a time, and will disappear either after a crew has finished the event, or it times out on its own. Skeleton and Ghost fleets feel like the most common world events, and generally take the longest to do. Both events involve fighting other ships,… [Continue Reading]

All The Commendations and Achievements

One of the more common sounds you’ll hear in the Sea of Thieves is a faint scribbling sound, the sound of pen writing on parchment. You’ll hear it quite regularly, especially if you are bringing treasure aboard your ship, are cooking and tinkering around your ship or you just happen to be eating something. The scribbling sound is the sound of things being added to your log. The log seems to track all sorts of stuff. It will track you as you find treasure, as you put the treasure on your ship, or even track your treasure if it is… [Continue Reading]

The Final Piece of Pirate Fashion

When I first started playing Sea of Thieves, I didn’t have much when it came to clothing. I also had basically no gold, so there wasn’t much I could buy anyway. However, after a few hours of playing, I did unlock some clothing from the season pass though, and I put together what I thought was a pretty simple outfit. Apparently, this outfit was really cool, according to other people, and I quite liked it as well, since it matched together quite nicely. At the next outpost, I bought a couple of pairs of boots and a hat to go… [Continue Reading]

On Twitch Drops

While I’m not really a fan of watching streamers on Twitch, I do like Twitch Drops. The concept is stupidly simple. All you have to do is make people watch a stream for a certain amount of time and they get a nice, shiny reward. The usefulness of the reward is always a bit uncertain, but it’s free, so people will take it. There are two games I play on the regular that do Twitch Drops, Sea of Thieves and Warframe. But while they both have Twitch Drops, they do so in quite different ways. Sea of Thieves Twitch Drops… [Continue Reading]

The Second Legend of Monkey Island Tall Tale

On September 1st (or rather August 31st for my friends), the second Tall Tale of Monkey Island, the Quest for Guybrush, came out. It’s a tall tale set on Melee Island, the same place as the first Tall Tale. This Tall Tale had us looking for a way to save Guybrush Threepwood from the strange day dream that he is trapped in. As we sail through the sea of the damned, we get a message from Lechuck, who says that he’s basically already won and wants to take over the Sea of Thieves. But we have a plan to stop… [Continue Reading]

On Not Spending Fortunes On Clothes

In the Sea of Thieves, the number one goal is to get a fuckton of gold. Gold is the be-all-and-end-all of the seas, you need it for almost everything in the Sea of Thieves. And, most importantly, you need gold to buy clothes. After all, the second biggest goal in the Sea of Thieves is to look fucking awesome, to be the pirate with the most drip. However, clothes and gear can get pretty expensive. There’s clothing you can buy that easily hits the millions of gold, particularly the Dark Adventurer sets, and stuff from the Gold Hoarders. If you… [Continue Reading]

The Legend of Monkey Island – A Tall Tale – Part 1

The Legend of Monkey Island has just released in the Sea of Thieves, and it’s pretty damn cool. The release involves Melee Island and a Tall Tale that introduces you to the new island and its lore. What we have seen so far is a Part 1 of Monkey Island, with the release of a second and third Tall Tale coming along next month. Now, I’ll be honest, I don’t really know much about the original Monkey Island games, but that doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy it. Because I really did enjoy this tall tale. The first thing that stood… [Continue Reading]

The Sea in Sea of Thieves

When the title of your game has the word ‘sea’ in it, you can expect that it’s, well, going to have a sea. Hopefully a cool sea that actually works. The sea in Sea of Thieves is actually pretty damn impressive. It actually does kind feel like an actual sea. And I feel like that is worth talking about. When sailing, you can feel pretty much every wave. You splash up and down and even sideways. The boat rocks with the sea, depending on how harsh the sea is. You remain calm and steady in clear waters, which are generally… [Continue Reading]

The Sea of Thieves’ Harpoon

On every ship, big and small, there’s always two harpoons waiting for you on the front of your ship. For what looks like such a simple mechanic, the harpoons are there for a myriad of reasons, and have more uses than you’d think. The most common use for a harpoon is for grabbing things in the water. Whenever you defeat an enemy ship, once the ship has sunk and despawned, all their loot comes floating up to the surface. You can then get on your harpoon and start grabbing the floating loot, for safe storage on your ship. Now, these… [Continue Reading]
