Workshop Irritation

I used to visit the TF2 Workshop a lot. Back when I first went there, going through the Workshop queue is a joy. Sure, there are some cosmetic submissions that are just lazy, some are stupid, and some made me lose hope in humanity. But a lot of them are interesting, and some of them are jaw-droppingly fantastic. There are also some that made me genuinely angry at Valve for not adding them into the game. Why aren’t you adding Aristotle into the game Valve? It’s the best pet cosmetic for the Spy I’ve ever seen! Get lost, Backstabber’s Boomslang.… [Continue Reading]

Some Good Mods for Sentinels

I’ve mentioned a few times that Sentinels are better than Kubrows and Kavats. The reasons are obvious. Sentinels don’t run face first into danger, they are far easier to maintain, they are cheaper to make, you can give them different weapons and they don’t need to be fed. But Sentinels have the added bonus of also having more initial polarities than companions too. Which means you can squeeze more mods on your floating buddies. But what mods should you use? Before we start, when companions, it matters where your mods go. For mods that make your Sentinel actively do things… [Continue Reading]

Separating Lore From Gameplay

If you have a story to tell and a game to sell, many people often find that they don’t always go hand in hand. Or that anything really goes hand in hand. Yes, your main character guardian is supposed to be super powerful, but that doesn’t always mesh well with how the rest of the game is going to work. Generally, it’s like a hill. You start off small and weak, a no one in the story. As you climb, you become more powerful. You reach the end of the story and you’re, well, maybe not a god, but you’re… [Continue Reading]

Dev Diary #1 – Introducing Medical Necessity!

Hi everybody! Last month I first mentioned my upcoming video game, Medical Necessity, and our team has been working hard on it since the new quarter started! I also mentioned that I’d be writing weekly articles chronicling the experiences I’ve had making a game as part of a group. For this first one, I’d like to introduce my teammates! Carry is our Development Director. With years of programming experience under his belt, he’s our primary Unity programmer and the brains behind many of the breakthroughs that have setup the foundations for our game. Carry worked for a Chinese game company… [Continue Reading]

Your Royal Gayness – New Visual Novel Released on Steam

Your Royal Gayness was a successfully-Kickstarted visual novel that passed through Steam Greenlight. For the past few months, I’ve been writing quests for the project, and yesterday the game was finally released! All of my quests are random encounters, so you may see them whenever a daily event pops up to make your life more complicated. My personal favorite involves a national scarab-racing team. Have fun!

Superflight

I really like Superflight. It is an extremely simple game. You use WASD to control your little avatar as he glides among multicoloured, procedurally-generated worlds. There is nothing to hear but the occasional chirping of birds and the constant sound of wind as you flew between rock formations. There is a point system, which is determined by how closely you are flying to the rocks. Flying beside a wall with your hand almost brushing against its surface, gliding between rock pillars, drifting just above a plateau, or darting through a hole on a rocky wall, they all contribute to your… [Continue Reading]

Skyrim: Legendary Edition VS Special Edition

There are so many versions of TESV: Skyrim available right now. It’s on the Switch, it’s on PS4 and XBox, it’s everywhere. Not bad for a nearly 6 year old game. On PC however, there are two versions of Skyrim to choose from. Skyrim Legendary Edition and Skyrim Special Edition. Well, technically there’s three. The base version of Skyrim alone, Skyrim Legendary Edition and Special Edition. There’s Skyrim plus the three DLCs, Dragonborn, Dawnguard and the shitty house-building DLC no one cares about. Legendary Edition is Skyrim and the three DLCs bundled together into one package, and is also what… [Continue Reading]

Scorn gameplay trailer – I’m really interested

I am extremely intrigued by Scorn from what I saw in its gameplay trailer. Scorn is a Kickstarted game by Ebb Software GmbH, a Serbian indie studio. Aside from an official trailer released to the public, backers received an alpha demo version of the game. When I first saw a snippet of the gameplay trailer above in a compilation, I was drawn in by the environment. It is, for no better world, alive. It is moist, warm and veiny. However, parts of it resemble a somewhat futuristic industrial complex, making the place look like a weird hybrid of a machine and the… [Continue Reading]

What’s The Best Archwing?

What’s the best Archwing? Amesha. Amesha is the best Archwing. This isn’t a question. It’s not a contest. Honestly, I was going to end this article here, but that would be bad of me. Plus, I ought to tell you WHY Amesha is the best Archwing, I shouldn’t just ram that down your throat. But first, a quick thing about the other Archwings. Odonata, your base Archwing, is crap. A shield, something that does something, something else and something else, it’s all round a very basic, very mediocre Archwing. It’s nothing special. Even the single augment for it, which gives… [Continue Reading]
