Echoed World

Echoed World is a puzzle platformer game. In it, you play as Algiz, an Architect imbued with the power of life. Long ago, after creating the universe, the Creator split all of his power into seven fragments and granted them to seven Architects. Six of them, including Algiz, created beautiful worlds. But the last one, Tyr, being a perfectionist but lacking the power to create life, failed to achieve anything that is satisfactory to him. Lusting after Algiz’s power as the Architect of Life, he came to his land and stole the crystal that houses Algiz’s power as he slumbered… [Continue Reading]

Payday 2: On Joker Cops

There are a couple reasons I frequently finding myself grabbing Joker skills in my Payday 2 builds; firstly, they’re under the Mastermind skill tree, which also comes with all the medic skills. The top joker skill, Hostage Taker, lets you regenerate health every five seconds if you have a converted cop. This works great with most of my favorite perk decks, especially my current love Stoic, which has phenomenal tanking potential but no innate way to regenerate the slivers of damage that will slowly wear you down throughout a heist. But even when I don’t spec all the way into… [Continue Reading]

Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon

I like EDF: Insect Armageddon. I mean, there are some things that are just beyond criticism. And when you get to fight giant insect, giant mechs, and giant mechanical insects in a game, that game cannot be criticized. I kid, I kid. EDF: Insect Armageddon is flawed. Rather flawed, actually. But even despite those flaws the base experience is so enjoyable that I can ignore those all the way through the campaign. It was only during replaying and preparing for this article when the flaws start surfacing. I did get the game during the Steam Christmas sale for a dollar,… [Continue Reading]

The Return of Phovos the Excalibur

I used to be known across the internet as Phovos the Raptor, or Phovos for short. Everything I did, every account I made pre-SPUF, I was called Phovos. And so were a lot of things during my SPUF years, since Phovos is often available where Medic obviously isn’t. That bright yellow Volt you see around here all the time? He’s… not called Phovos. He’s called Retvik, because the name Phovos was taken when I created my current Warframe account. It turned out though, the name Phovos had been taken by me. I sort of rediscovered this when I bought the… [Continue Reading]

Fortnite Battle Royale

I never really got the hype surrounding the idea of Battle Royale. Neither in its infancy nor when PUBG had suddenly conquered the world. I couldn’t understand what enjoyment you could possibly get out of running around on auto-pilot for half an hour, picking up whatever goodies you come across, only to be shot and killed instantly in the middle of a barren wasteland with no cover from half a mile away at an angle you couldn’t possibly have predicted. Then news came out about Fortnite Battle Royale along with a trailer and news the beta would be going live… [Continue Reading]

Tea Talk: Random Achievements

I’ve been playing one particular mobile game recently. It’s not really that good of a game, and it’s not unique or interesting enough to warrant any discussion on the game itself. But there is one particular issue I have with the game that really irritates me. In that game, you can collect tokens to earn extra points. And there are a whole series of achievements based on collecting a specific number of tokens. Thing is, the token spawns are random and you can’t completely control whether you collect the tokens or not. Thus, whether you collect the specific amount of… [Continue Reading]

Medic Rambles On About How Warframe Bosses Can Be Killed Multiple Times

Warframe, like most games with multiple players fighting against AI enemies, has bosses that just do not seem to want to die. You have to kill a lot of them at least three times minimum in order to get Warframe part blueprints out of them. Where the heck are they getting these blueprints from anyway? That’s kinda besides the point though. Anyway, how DO all these enemies come back from the grave? We’ll start with the Infested. There’s three main Infested bosses – Phoroid, who is fought in Infested Invasions, should they take over a boss node; Lephiantis and the… [Continue Reading]

A Weird Lack of Cooldowns

People don’t tend to notice things until they don’t have them any more. You don’t realise how much you miss someone or something until it’s gone. Alternatively, you don’t notice how annoying  something can be until it suddenly hits you. Like cooldowns in video games. You know what I mean. You’ve got this awesome power, you want to use it. You save it up for the perfect moment. You use it. Now you’ve got to wait until you use it again. How long that is depends on the ability and the game. For example, the cooldown on Unrelenting Force, everyone’s… [Continue Reading]

Modding the Awkward Way

Lately, I’ve been playing Warframe with my brother Smeghead. I introduced him to the game in April last year, and he’s really enjoyed it, having reached Mastery Rank 21 with ease. His favourite character is Rhino, and his glorious Rubedo-plated Rhino Prime is his most used frame, complete with several Forma and all the maxed mods. Meanwhile, my beloved Volt Prime still does not have a single Forma embedded in him. You see, Smeghead mods like a normal person. He fully upgrades his mods. If a Warframe or weapon doesn’t have enough room for a mod, then he sticks a… [Continue Reading]

On Stealth Warframes

So I had to play Loki the other day. I was farming the Plague Star mission with a group and they requested that I go Loki to help speed things up. By speed things up, they mean by using Switch Teleport to get the drone moving faster. Honestly I think I actually made the mission take longer, because multiple times I accidentally Switch Teleported team mates instead of the drone. Mostly my fault, but they WERE standing right next to the bastard. Still, it got me thinking about things. Mostly about stealth. Stealth in Warframe is pretty hard to obtain… [Continue Reading]
