What Is the Point of Converted Liches, Outside of Trading?

Whenever you defeat a Sister of Parvos or a Kuva Lich, you get two options. The first option is to completely murder the Sister or Lich, so you can steal their gun. After all, Kuva and Tenet weapons are some of the best weapons around. However, if you are feeling merciful, you can convert the Lich or Sister and have them fight by your side.

However, the most common reason to convert a nemesis is for their Ephemeras. These fancy effects are highly sought-after because, well, they’re basically Team Fortress 2’s unusuals but for your Warframe. This means that Ephemeras have an intrinsic value, and good amounts of Platinum can be earned by trading Liches or Sisters away.

But outside of trading, what real uses do these former bad guys have?

Railjack Defenders

Currently, there are two main uses for Liches and Sisters. Converted Liches and Sisters can be used on your Railjack’s crew. Unlike normal crew though, Liches and Sisters can only do one thing: defend. They can’t pilot the ship or be gunners because Liches and Sisters are typically huge, larger than even our Warframes. But for some reason though, you can’t have a Sister or Lich as an Engineer either, despite it being a much simpler job. Heck, the animations are already there. Kuva Liches have an animation for holding an Omni-shaped weapon, so why can’t they be engineers too?

If you have a Lich or Sister in your active crew, you can also set them to “On Call”, and summon them in normal missions. However, this means you need to have a Lich or Sister in your crew at all times. And not everyone is happy wasting a slot that would better fit an engineer and gunner.

But, to make matters worse, Liches and Sisters just… aren’t as good as normal crew mates. The buddies you get from Syndicates are not just customizable, but you can change their weapons too. It’s way easier to have an Engineer with a Kuva Nukor, for example. They use your own, already modded weapons. In comparison, Liches and Sisters use their default weapons, which aren’t nearly as powerful.

Randomly helping you when downed

There is however one more thing Liches do. If you die and revive yourself in a mission, there’s a chance that your Lich or Sister will arrive to give you a hand. Except… they kinda don’t. Sure, a Lich or Sister will shoot some bad guys for you, but that’s pretty much it, since that is what your squad and you were doing anyway. You might as well just use a Warframe specter. They’ll at least be a tad more helpful.

And to make matters worse, Sisters and Liches don’t stay for very long. They wander around a bit then bugger off.

No way to properly unleash them.

Kuva Liches and Sisters of Parvos are supposed to be intimidating. After all, we had to use special, dangerous mods to be able to defeat them in the first place. They are powerful adversaries. Yet, for some reason, when they work for us, they seem to lose all their power.

Considering the efforts required to convert a Sister or Lich in the first place, we really should be able to use them more. Or, alternatively, make it so that converted adversaries hit a bit harder. Because, currently, random Syndicate people are way, way more powerful than these hulking brutes that we converted to work for us…
