Infinite Primary Ammo Is A Blessing

Long time readers of the Daily SPUF may notice one thing about me. And that one thing is that I have fucking awful aim. Awful reaction times, awful awareness and an amazingly bad shot. I dare not go to an actual firing range, for fear that my complete lack of skill in video games somehow transfers to real life as well. Better safe than sorry, especially around firearms.

But still, I try to improve my aim. It’s been a tireless battle for years. In fact, my aim is probably stunted by the fact that I always played Medic in Team Fortress 2. After all, the best Medics only need to be accurate for Crusader’s Crossbow shots, and even then, it’s mostly to heal allies. As long as you hit someone, you’re fine.

At the same time, I have tried many other games. And I have shit aim in all of them. Even in Minecraft, for some reason, I can’t aim with the crossbow. Normal bows are fine, but I still miss quite a lot.

My aim sucks. Like, really, really sucks.

Normally, bad aim isn’t a problem. You’ll kill whatever it is you are fighting at some point. But what happens when you run out of ammo? Minecraft players can pick up their missed bows, or just go and craft some more. Ammo spawns in specific locations in TF2 but Medics don’t really need to worry about it.

Even in Warframe, where I am at the rank of Legendary 1, my aim is still pretty awful. That being said, while my aim in Warframe is okay, there are plenty of area of effect weapons. Just point vaguely in the direction of your enemies and you’ll hit something. Sure, AoE weapons can knock you around, but it’s nothing that Primed Sure Footed can’t fix. And since I normally use Carrier as my companion, I almost always have ammo. Even with the Kuva Bramma, which has a very small clip, I was mostly fine. Vigilante Supplies also helped a ton, made better because it used an Exilus slot and didn’t get in the way of one’s standard build.

Aim so bad that I have to regularly reload.

The first time I played Destiny 2, my aim was still shit. All I did was the tutorial and one strike boss fight. Not enough to learn how bad my aim was. I only tried the open beta. It wasn’t until Destiny 2 went free to play that I began to notice just how bad I was. Turns out, I was almost constantly out of ammo. Not just special and heavy ammo, used for heavy-hitter guns, but your bog-standard white ammo too. And when I realized how bad my aim was, I realized I needed to do better. Get better at shooting and all that. Or maybe play something else.

I opted to play something else.

When I came back though, I was happy.

So I stopped following Destiny 2 for quite a while, and only for a little bit. When I properly started playing during Season of the Lost, it turned out that a patch had gotten rid of white primary ammo, instead opting to give unlimited backup ammo. This meant that I’d never fun completely out of ammo ever again.

But then I realized another problem. Sure, I had unlimited ammo now, but I had forgotten about reloading. And how do I fix that? By getting gud.

Oh well, back to the drawing board…
