Warframe’s Naberus Event Is Lame

Like pretty much every other game right now, Warframe is in the middle of its Halloween event. Halloween is generally a good thing for gamers, since most games will have fun extras to them, especially in MMOs and games with lots of cosmetics. If it’s a popular game, then there will almost certainly be a tie-in or event regarding Halloween. At the very least, there’ll be a few pumpkins strewn about.

However, this year, Warframe’s Halloween event has been very lackluster. Like, really, really lackluster.

It’s not an event, it’s a shop.

Yeah. A spooky shop. In the Necralisk, Daughter is peddling various things for Naberus, which is the Warframe equivalent of Halloween. Well, it is now. Current earth holidays have been referenced or even mentioned by name in the past. However, with the introduction of Deimos, an entire infested planet, the halloweeny related lore was shaken up a bit, and we got a new, lore-friendly tradition.

So now, instead of having Halloween, we have Naberus. If you have Grandmother’s ship decoration, then you might have heard the story that comes with Naberus. It was an Orokin holiday, especially made to mock pesky little things like death. Continuing onwards through Grandmother’s story, you quickly realize that the Orokin got what they deserved.

However, while the three dumb Orokin in the story were left as monstrous mistakes, it still seems that the Orokin had a spooky event, and the last few Orokin we know are still celebrating. What all of this has to do with Daughter selling spooky treats, I’m not particularly sure.

But yeah. It’s a shop. Using Mother Tokens as currency. Daughter has a bunch of cobwebs and pumpkins scattered around, as well as a fancy costume. And glass shards in her hair.

Weird. But the question is, are Daughter’s Naberus shop items any good?

Literally the only good things are the wings and the guns, if you lack them.

For a long-term player, there is pretty much nothing to buy except for the wing ephemera. You can’t even really use the wings much, because they take up so much of my damn screen.

At least the younger Tenno can celebrate

If this is your first Naberus though, you’re in for some luck. Daughter’s store actually has quite a few bits and pieces that come from older events. The ballroom simulacrum is from Scarlet Spear, alongside the Basmu and Ceti Lacera, two Sentient weapons, all of which have been nigh impossible to obtain otherwise.

The cosmetics are also great for those who missed out the first time round. Both the Spineret and Naberus Ephemera have returned alongside the massive dragon wings and they’re somewhat cheap as well. Not only that but they don’t completely block the screen.

Basically, the shop has nothing new for veteran players, but it has some nice shinies for newer players.

The currency isn’t hard to farm either

It’s just Mother Tokens. Tokens that you get for doing bounties.Do a high level bounty or two and you can easily get enough tokens for the wings. But that all depends on whether you get a lot of bugs or not. The open worlds are all known to be quite glitchy and buggy at times. On top of that, there’s no, well, event bounty or anything like that. Just a single shop selling last year’s wares.

Naberus has turned into a very, very lazy event. We have a shop and that is it. There’s no spooky monsters, no mini-event. Not even the weird unarmed melee fight against an Infested Juggernaut with a pumpkin on it’s head, that we had in previous years…
