5 More Best Pokemon To Beat Team Rocket Grunts
Pokemon GO’s Team Rocket are still around and they are stronger than ever. The last time I saw them, I beat the crap out of them, and was rewarded with the worst Apex Lugia and Apex Ho-Oh possible. We’ve actually gone over good Pokemon for Grunt battles before, but there are always options, especially as Team Rocket change up their loadouts semi-regularly. Today, we’re going to go through 5 more Pokemon that do great against Team Rocket.
Heatran
Most people don’t like Heatran, and for good reason. It’s kinda ugly, badly shaped and appears in 5* raids way, way too often. But Heatran does one thing good by being a big, bulky guy. There are plenty of other good fire attacks, but Reshiram’s Overheat gives you a debuff and Moltres is rather squishy, even when it double-resists grass types.I wouldn’t use Heatran in raids (it does less damage in more time) but for Team Rocket Grunts, who hit insanely hard, having that extra bulk can save you a revive.
Sylveon
Normally? I’d recommend Gardevoir as a fairy type. And it is a good fairy type. But Gardevoir is also half psychic type, which means that dark and ghost types still bother her. Sylveon on the other hand is a pure fairy type, and only fears steel and poison. While steel and poison are pretty rare in grunt battles, they’re even rarer than ghost and dark types. The main thing that both Pokemon should look out for are Stunky and Skuntank, which are dark/poison types, and are also pretty common in for Dark type grunts. Both Pokemon also have psychic moves, but frankly those are only for poison types. And in Team Rocket fights, there’s not enough time to use a psychic move because the enemy Pokemon attack insanely quickly.
Excadrill
When it comes to ground type Pokemon, there’s only really three choices: Groudon, Garchomp and Excadrill. Out of these, Excadrill is the cheapest to power up AND the cheapest to get a second move on. Damage-wise, it very very slightly beats Groudon and is nearly on level with Landorus. Garchomp needs Earth Power to beat them. Then again, if you played Gible Community Day, then you should probably go with Garchomp.
Dialga
Dialga just doesn’t care. It’s a massive, tanky monster who will dragon-breath everyone to death. The only things it fears are ground and fighting types. But Dialga is so bulky that it’ll power through most enemies, even if it’s not doing super effective damage. Of course, there are better, more specific or niche Pokemon, and it’s best to counter a Grunt’s types, but Dialga can be stuck in the back and made to finish everything off. Or it will nuke other Pokemon with Draco Meteor.
A Second Machamp
I was going to recommend things like starter Pokemon. But, really, you can’t go wrong with a second Machamp. Between Dynamic Punch, Rock Slide Payback and Heavy Slam, Machamp has an answer to pretty much everything. The only downside is that you can only pick two moves. So why not just bring another Machamp? Your main Machamp should have Dynamic Punch and Rock Slide, but you can play around with the spammy Cross Chop and the exclusive move Payback as well. Machamp is just too good.
Of course, you can use other fighting types, but Machamp is always there for you…
