More Candies for Better Throws Should be the Norm

During the Ultra Bug Out event, a new passive bonus was released, alongside a bunch of other event buffs. Simply put, you’d get more candy based on the quality of a throw. A Nice throw would earn you one extra candy, a Great throw two candy and an Excellent throw 3 candy. With a pinap berry, that’s up to 12 candy for an Excellent throw on a normal Pokemon. Pretty neat, right?

Sadly, this extra candy for good throws is only for the Bug Out event, and once it’s gone, we might not ever see it again. However, the extra candy feels so right at home that I think it should be permanent.

It rewards skill

I mean, excellent throws do already reward you. If a Pokemon is caught with an excellent throw, you get 1000xp for it. However, experience is kinda passive in Pokemon GO, especially after level 40. That 1000xp though IS pretty nice, and a good reason to try and go for excellent throws all the time. Pokemon candy though, that’s always useful. After all, you need an astonishing amount of candy and stardust to evolve, power up and double-move Pokemon.

Getting candy for skilled throws would be a great idea to help out players and give players a reason to always try for excellent throws. Doubly so if using a pinap. Sure, you should kinda be going for excellent throws all the time, but it’s sometimes tempting to just go with nice and great throws.

This would be best for Legendary Pokemon

Legendary Pokemon are a massive pain in the ass to catch, and using pinap berries on them is kinda a waste of a ball and a berry. They just burst out so easily, that nothing aside from a golden razberry will catch many of them. Sometimes you can get uber-lucky and catch a Legendary with a silver pinap or perhaps even a normal pinap, but the catch rates just aren’t in our favour.

However, one thing that can make up for it is the extra candy on nice, great and excellent throws. We’re already trying to get great and excellent throws to catch them anyway, but the throw bonus means you don’t have to waste pinaps that Legendary Pokemon always seem to jump away from. You get the best of both worlds with an excellent throw: candy AND actually having a chance to catch a Pokemon.

What should be left out though are mythical Pokemon. Especially since they have to be caught in unique ways and already don’t allow berries to be used on them. While you can get nice, great and excellent throws on Mythical Pokemon, it’s difficult to do because they always auto-catch after the third throw, and they never have the standard targeting ring. Which means you often just have to guest.

The exception here though is Meltan. Because you need so many candies for it. And since they can be caught with standard throws, having the catch candy bonus would be great for Meltan.

At least make it a bonus for more events.

I’ll be honest, maybe the candy on capture is a little bit overpowered. It can make pretty much any Pokemon a brief x2 candy event. And Legendary and Mythical Pokemon should be rare and hard to power up. But still, it is a cool and unique buff that rewards good players and doesn’t harm casual players.

Plus, everyone likes extra candy, right?
