Sea of Thieves with the Siblings for the first time

Up until Christmas, I only really ever played Sea of Thieves with my great friend Bacxaber. Together, we’d sail the seas, kicking ass and getting tons of loot. The problem was, because of time zones, I’d have to stay up super late in order to play. Also, there’s a massive skill difference between Bacxaber’s level of play and my own. He’s a PvP master while I’m slow and only really know the basics. But over the Christmas break, I was gladly informed that my sister and her boyfriend had both purchased Sea of Thieves. So of course we had to play together.

For our first voyage together, we decided to be Gold Hoarder emissaries, and do a bunch of treasure maps. Turns out, both sister and her BF are natural players. Sister can expertly decipher maps, while her BF can already steer the ship very well. They’ve also already decked themselves out with nice clothes, already looking like proper pirates.

The plan was simple. Grab treasure maps, follow them and dig up the buried treasure. We’d marked a course on our map, circling the islands we needed to visit, then set sail. We all took turns sailing, despite the handful of times that we crashed into rocks, and actually made great progress, reaching emissary rank 5 with Gold Hoarders. This meant we basically doubled the money we were due to make after selling all this treasure. Along the way though, we kept on having to check the map, as there was not one but two Reaper ships out on the waves. Both of which were level 5 by the time we finished with our treasure hunting.

We also unlocked a new cosmetic. On our voyage, we landed at Sea Dog’s Rest, the final resting place of DeMarco. While we were there, we found a red glowing chest that contained DeMarco’s lantern. While the whole murder mystery event was over, we still got to use and keep the lantern. After this, we sailed to the nearest outpost and used the Sovereigns to purchase all our chests and gems. At the same outpost was a friendly ship, and we made a quick little alliance, because why not?

But here is where things get even cooler. While we were selling our loot, someone sneaked up on us. It was one of the Reaper ships we had been trying to avoid. Our new ally buddies didn’t stand a chance against the Reaper Galleon. As for us? Well, we decided to step in and fight back. Despite having a player disadvantage. What happened next was amazing. While they took down our masts, we managed to pepper the galleon with enough holes to make it sink. We expertly sailed around both the outpost and our foe, riddling them with cannon balls. Our first proper PvP battle and we won!

As the Reaper ship sank, we sailed around the outpost and vacuumed up all their loot. They didn’t have much, but it was a nice bonus to what we had already earned. Unfortunately, that Reaper ship did come back and sink us, but by then we had already sold everything and lowered our emissary flag, so that ship got nothing from us. We were too busy dicking around anyway.

Either way, our first voyage was excellent, and I’m so happy to have someone to play with in the same time zone as me. Turns out us siblings do make for a really good crew.
