Medic Plays Pokemon Violet – Part 3

I’m gonna be honest, I’m a little bit lost. I can’t decide what I actually want to do, and instead I’ve just been wandering around. Since part 2 all I have really done is go from pokecenter to pokecenter, unlocking waypoints to be able to fly to later on. So here’s what I’ve been up to.

The major thing I have been doing is catching Pokemon. Anything new I come across, I grab my Pokeballs and try to weaken them down so I can catch them. This has been going quite well with Ringo the Weed Cat, mostly just using quick attack to get a little bit of damage done. The only thing screwing me over is the critical hit. When you want something dead, there are no critical hits in sight. You just want to wound something? That is when crits appear.

While I’ve been traveling, I’ve also nearly gotten myself in trouble. I wandered too far east and ran into level 30+ Pokemon, namely a stampede of Taurus that basically spawned on top of me. Thank heavens for Pokedolls, because those Taurus were one-shotting my little team.

Aside from catching things and wandering around, I have actually managed to do a few things. Just like Pokemon Shield, I have to do a random test thing before I can fight a gym leader. I stumbled into one in a village of olives, and the game was called Olive Roll. All you do is push a massive rugby ball across an obstacle course and score a goal with it. Very simple but somewhat amusing. When I originally saw the arena for the Olive Roll, I was expecting a pvp event, but no, it’s just pushing a ball around.

After that, I got distracted by wandering round again. On my travels, I see a bunch of boulders rolling down a hill and go to see what it is. I end up stumbling into the nest of a titan Pokemon, a hideous pelican-like being. I only just manage to beat the bird, only to be joined by Arven, who helps me finish the bird off completely. We then discover a powerful herb in the bird’s lair. This is what Arven has been looking for, and the first thing he does is make a sandwich out of it.

We end up sharing the sandwich between myself, Arven and Miraidon, who seems to love sandwiches more than anything else. Somehow, this herb powers up Miraidon and it learns the ability to travel over water.

That’s not all though. Ringo has evolved into Floragato, and I caught my first Terastalized Pokemon, a Meowth with the Flying type. Not the most interesting of types, but it does mean that the Meowth is no longer weak to fighting. On the flip side, it now has a bunch of extra weaknesses – rock, electric and ice. Oh well. At the same time, I run into a Team Star base and a guy called Clive, who wants to help in the “destroy team star” mission. Clive looks mighty suspicious and familiar, but since both Clive and Cassiopeia are being secretive, I just decide to move on and do something else. I don’t have the Pokemon to be able to deal with a base yet anyway. Plus, I got business elsewhere. Like trying to reach more Pokecenters.

Anyway, maybe next time I’ll fight that gym that I did the Olive Roll for. I just hope my Pokemon are strong enough…
