Medic Plays Pokemon Violet – Part 4

This is the part in which I go to every Pokecenter on the island of Paldea. Why? I don’t really know, I just like having easy-to-access teleporting between locations. In fact, I actually do that in a lot of games I play. Unlocking new areas is always fun.

What started all of this was actually quite simple. I was riding Miraidon and decided to jump over a wall in Mesagoza to see what happened. Turns out, I ended up at the Pokecenter next to the Pokemon League. I probably wasn’t supposed to be there, but I took it as a positive sign to go and find other Pokecenters, so I can zoom around a bit more.

Of course, I start off in Mesagoza, and I decide to go south first, back to my home village. There’s a small pokecentre somewhere south east, and I kinda shimmy around hills to reach it. Really, shimmying is all I can do since there are black Taurus everywhere. I bought a ton of Pokedolls, the first time I’ve ever used them, because these Pokemon really want to get run over.

However it didn’t take me long to clear out the southern part of Paldea. There was a barricade for slightly further north west, blocked off by Team Star, but that didn’t bother me at all. I just shimmied to the left, which was just a cliff, and managed to sneak over using Miraidon for balance. Most of the western side of Paldea was now open to me, despite parts of it being very rocky. I saw a sparkly Dragonair, but it was level 50-something and there was no way me and my level 20 Pokemon could fight that.

The most difficult part was probably reaching the north east side of Paldea. Accessing the area via the south was kinda blocked by a very large wall of rock that definitely told me to go away a few times. This is probably intentional, but I had a trick around my sleeve. I’d just go around the crater and enter the north east via the north west, and riding Miraidon over a mountain. The mountain wasn’t even really hard to climb. Couldn’t have been too hard since there’s a Pokecenter near the top.

There was one Pokecenter though that I hadn’t accessed yet. There’s a pass somewhere towards the centre of the map, but I couldn’t work out how to get to it. Turns out, it actually wasn’t that difficult, I just had to go through a tunnel or two. I assume Pokemon dug those tunnels because it looked particularly perilous being inside them. I did spot some Salandits, but they were too high to catch. That three-way tunnel though was the last Pokecenter I needed, and it was in a handy position up on the northern half of the island.

Holy shit the map is annoying though. Why can’t it just point north properly and by default, like any normal map? And there are so many icons scattered all over it that you can’t tell what is what. The map would be so much better if it just defaulted to having north at the top, rather than rotating with my character.

But yeah, now I can fly to pretty much any of the important areas on the map, rather than having to walk and drive poor Miraidon to death.
