Little Things I Want in the Sea of Thieves

Sea of Thieves is already a game brimming with content, but there’s always some little things that I want to see in the game. Little things that would boost player morale.

Tons more clothes and facial hair

Sea of Thieves already has a fuckton of cosmetics. However, most of those cosmetics generally quite… captain-y. Most players tend to look pretty fancy, or they are basically naked while showing off tattoos. But there’s very little left in the middle. Pirate gear that pirates would actually wear. Years back, there was a clothing leak that would have fixed this issue entirely.

And then there’s facial hair, as seen here:

More animal companions

Okay, so we already have parrots as pets. That’s to be expected. The other pets we currently have are dogs, cats and monkeys mostly. But I think there are more fitting animals to be had as pets. The first being rats. Now, rats can seem scary, but they can also make for great companions. We already have a setting that toggles rats running around on ships, so I don’t see why we can’t just apply some of that to actual pets. Other pets that would be nice are crabs, more birds, snakes and maybe lizards too.

Sails in the same shape as the Dark Adventurers sails

If you’ve ever played Sea of Thieves in more than a Sloop, you quickly notice that your sails kinda get in the way of where you are going and looking at. It’s fine when the wind comes from the sides, but otherwise sailing and steering a ship having your sails in the way is not fun. However, there is one special set of sails that give you more field of view, and that’s the Dark Adventurer sails, for a cool 6 million gold.

But frankly, that’s stupid. Why can’t we just have some sails with the same cut as the Dark Adventurer sails? Or allow us to choose different cuts on our sails? Because spending multi-millions on one set of sails is insane.

A trumpet or something

Sea of Thieves actually already has quite a few instruments, but we can still add more. And the trumpet, or some sort of brass instrument, would be pretty damn funny but also pretty fitting. I’m not too knowledgeable on instruments, but we could also have violins or cellos too. And size of instrument doesn’t matter too much here, since all pirates wear a cannonball underneath their hat.

Waypoint markers

Two of my favourite games, Warframe and Risk of Rain 2, both have the ability to add a waypoint somewhere on the map. In Warframe, this is normally used to mark rare resources, while in Risk of Rain 2, you can mark out unopened chests and dangerous enemies. Either way, both systems are insanely useful. Waypoints would help a ton with Sea of Thieves. Several examples would be marking loot in the water, or where on a ship you want to fire. There’s already quite a few ways to communicate in the Sea of Thieves, but waypoints would make it even better.

Use shovels as weapons

I mean, why not? Sure, we already have swords, but hitting someone with a shovel is so much more… satisfying. A shovel doesn’t have to deal more damage or anything, I just want to be able to bonk people on the head. Preferably with a cool golden shovel from the Gold Hoarders.

Anyway that’s it for now. Back to the seas I go.
