Five Pokemon I Always Catch When I See Them

When I go on my daily walks, I generally play Pokemon GO at the same time. Unfortunately, there aren’t that many Pokemon to catch where I live, so I just have to make do with the daily incense. And, frankly, most of the spawns are pretty damn mediocre. However, there are some Pokemon that I always catch, no matter what.

Houndour

Houndour is my favourite Pokemon, so this is kinda obvious. Although I have both a shiny Houndour and a 100% Hundoom, I find myself still catching them, because I need the XL Candy to get my Hundoom to level 50. Despite having walked three Houndooms to Best Buddies, I am still quite a long way off from the 296 XL Candy I need. On the plus side, at least I have tons of Mega Candy for Houndoom.

But yeah, I need XL Candy. But I also don’t have a perfect shiny. The chances of me finding a shiny, 100% Houndour are incredibly low, almost impossible perhaps. The only way to find out is to keep on catching them.

Trubbish

While Trubbish is a pretty ugly Pokemon, it’s always worth going out of your way to catch them. These piles of sapient trash actually reward you with way more stardust than any other – 750 stardust. That’s more than a Team Rocket fight, or equivalent to 7 and a half normal Pokemon catches.

Paras and Meowth also give you extra stardust, giving 500 stardust when caught. They are also a tad more common, but because of the rotating seasons, Trubbish, Paras and Meowth are all rare. Paras appeared in the Festival of Colours, and I’ve seen a few Meowths in my daily incense, but they’re still uncommon.

Dratini

You might ponder why I always catch Dratini, especially if you have read my article on Dragonite. But the thing is, I absolutely love Dratini and Dragonair. I find them both adorable. In fact, I actually consider them to be amongst my most favourite Pokemon. This causes me to, well, hoard them a little bit, and constantly check for shinies. Back when I was doing the master research for a shiny Mew, Dratini was a life-saver for me. Thanks to AR tasks that rewarded Dratini, I managed to finish the “Catch 30 Dragon Types” task with ease.

Dratini also often is the Pokemon rewarded from the “Catch a Dragon Type” research, so there’s always a chance that you can get a shiny one.

Tropius

There are quite a few Pokemon which are regional, meaning they only spawn in specific places on the planet. Honestly, it’s kinda bullshit how these Pokemon spawn, and only a few of them swap over every six months. Here in Cyprus, we actually only get one regional Pokemon, and it’s Tropius. The cute banana dragon appears semi-regularly here, and I sometimes keep a few in my backpack, in case I run into any tourists.

Now with Tropius capable of being shiny, I’ll be catching even more of them. The downside is that the Hoenn tour put them in eggs, so now a lot more people have a Tropius, and it’s not as rare as it used to be.

Eevee

I don’t know why I always catch Eevees. Part of me wants to check to see if they are shiny. But even if they’re not shiny, I still catch them. I suppose the answer is ‘why not?’. Eevee is an uncommon Pokemon that you can occasionally catch, even if there is an event going on. Pikachu has the same problem, but there’s a gold badge for catching Pikachus. For Eevee, I suppose I just really want more shiny ones. It is an adorable Pokemon, after all…
