Pocket Pauling

The Pocket Pauling is a cosmetic released in the Rainy Day Pack. It is a plush doll that looks like Ms. Pauling holding a clipboard, which sits on Scout’s backpack. The button eyes are rather similar to the ones on the Pocket Pyro except that they’re darker in colour. In the Pocket Pauling’s hands is a clipboard, which has a small piece of paper on it that is (supposedly) held in place by a thumbtack. On the paper is a drawing of Ms. Pauling’s face surrounded by heart shapes and a sentence saying:”Scout is the best of the Teufort nine and… [Continue Reading]

Firearms Bullfighting

Out of all the colourful and varied enemies that appeared in Serious Sam 3, there is one that has a really special place in my heart. Ladies and gentlemen, my most favourite enemy in video games ever (so far), the Sirian Werebull. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksXlESKGLsY The Syrian Werebull is pretty much an alien bull. It looks like a bull, sounds like a bull, charges at you like a bull, and dies like how a bull would if you shoot it with a green alien laser gun. However, unlike regular bulls and much like other Serious Sam 3 enemies, its corpse will turn… [Continue Reading]

The Field Medic: Militarization of a German Nurse

Along with the rain came the Field Practice, a beret with a Medic class emblem over which Medic wore a nice pair of silver earphones. I assume it’s for communication with teammates and the home base, but I cannot understand for the life of me why any Medic will want to better hear his teammates yell for him to top up their health and babysit them for the match. There’s a microphone on the headphones, but going by personal experience only 2.57% of the playerbase will listen to what their Medics are saying. The Field Practice is the latest military… [Continue Reading]

AaAaAA!!! – A Reckless Disregard for Survivability

By the way, I’m not talking about this game, so … sorry. After finally finishing Serious Sam 3: BFE (side note, Kleer Skeletons can go fuck themselves), I originally wanted to do a feature article on the Kleer Skeletons just to vent, but I decide to start these Serious Sam articles with a bang, so today we’ll be talking about the Beheaded Kamikaze. First up, a brief introduction: The Headless Kamikaze is a staple enemy of the Serious Sam franchise, and is a rather simple concept: He finds you, charges towards you screaming at the top of their lungs despite having… [Continue Reading]

These are a few of my favourite guns~

As any gamer will know, weapons are the bread and butter of almost any video game, with the exception being some platformers, fighting games, and the Stanley Parable. And anyone who has played at least three different games will have a few favourites. With that said, these are my six most favourite video game weapons. And the only reason why I listed 6 and not 5 is because the last two are actually really close. Number 6 by a margin smaller than the amount of Heavy mains in TF2 is the Tomislav. As a flank Heavy, this gun has been… [Continue Reading]

Burly Beast

Some time before Scream Fortress 2016, there was a Reddit thread about how some mercs got shafted really bad when it comes to cosmetic distribution. This was what I said: If you wonder what “this” refers to, it’s this. And guess what got added during Scream Fortress 2016? Exactly that. Now, I’m not saying Valve listens to me, but Valve added a cosmetic that was submitted and last updated a whole year ago when there are other submission made that year. By the way Valve, if you are still listening, I still want my jetpack. As one can see, this tears… [Continue Reading]

Team Fortress Arcade

When we talk about TF2 fan games, most of us will think of Gang Garrison 2, or maybe Fortress Forever. Some of us might even mention the TF2 Dating Sim, and … we’re not talking about that one. However, there is another little gem released in 2011 that I found out from watching FUNKe’s video. Out of curiosity, I downloaded it and had a look at it. Team Fortress Arcade is a fan game by Eric Ruth, and just like what the title said, is a remake of TF2, arcade-style. It supports local multiplayer for up to 4 people on… [Continue Reading]

Tin-1000

The Mann vs. Machine Update of 2012 brought us a lot of new content. A whole new gamemode, a new series of reskins, a new comic, a new video, and of course, new hats. And among all the hats, the one that I like the most is the Tin-1000. Aside from the Soldier’s Stogie, Archimedes, Robro 3000, and the Operation Steel Trap Badge, the cosmetics are roboticized hats, one for each class. They’re based off some parts of the mercs’ robot counterparts, or in two cases, robot version of the Officer’s Ushanka and the Fancy Fedora. I can’t find anything to back… [Continue Reading]

Surgeon’s Sidearms

What always irritates me when I see Medic cosmetics is that they rarely portray Medic’s medical practice properly. Most cosmetics portray Medic as a doctor. A proper medical doctor. With cosmetics like this one, this one, this one, and this one. and the fact that he’s running around with a Medi Gun in a shiny white labcoat, anyone not familiar with the lore and doesn’t pay attention to the voicelines would’ve thought Medic to be a Hippocrates-loving, pacifistic, and compassionate guardian angel. Meanwhile, the real Medic is an absolute psychopath with his skills being a side effect of his morbid curiosity. Did you… [Continue Reading]

Why doesn’t Engineer get a revolver?

Considering the number of cowboy-themed cosmetics and the Bucking Bronco taunt, I suppose I can safely say that the Engineer is pretty well associated with cowboys. However, while the Demoman gets a ton of knight-themed cosmetics and a few swords, Engineer never got the revolver that a lot of people wanted him to have. So why is that? Well, I don’t work at Valve, so I can’t really give a definite answer. but I can give a guess as to why that’s the case. First question one might ask: why not just give the Engineer one of Spy’s revolvers? Looking at… [Continue Reading]
