Writers’ Block Strikes Again

It’s late in the evening, and here I am, sitting at my laptop, trying to think of something to write about. Something that can at least get me to 500 words so I can meet my daily quota. After all, I have to write 500 words a day as part of my new year’s resolution. But today, while staring at my laptop, nothing really springs to mind. Normally, when I write, I generally have a title in mind, as well as a few headers. A vague skeleton of text that I can then work around and fill in the details.… [Continue Reading]

We’re Probably Not Alone

Youtube’s recommendations to me lately have been pretty scientific. I’ve been watching a lot about stars, planets and black holes on one end of the scale, and videos about quantum mechanics and subatomic particles on the other. Scattered in my recommendations though are the odd video about life outside our solar system. You know, aliens and stuff. Things that are mostly just speculation. Really, when you think about it, there are a lot of stars with a lot of planets orbiting them. Scientists have been finding a lot of Earth-like planets, although many have been a lot bigger than Earth.… [Continue Reading]

Other People’s Cats

Other people’s cats are great. There’s really not much else to say, other than the fact that you don’t have to deal with them. They come in, act cute and get cuddles, or bugger off and hide, then go back to doing their own things. Mind you, not all pets act the same. Some cats will zoom to whoever likes cats the least, while the more social cats will lounge around, waiting for snacks and scritches. But at the end of the day, you can give a cat back to its owner and don’t have to deal with it any… [Continue Reading]

Chicken is one of the biggest types of meat around, having been eaten for centuries and perhaps millennia. It’s easy to raise, cheaper than beef or veal and also lays eggs, a byproduct and a massive food source. Chicken is simple to obtain and can be made into all sorts of dishes and cooked in all sorts of interesting ways. So many ways to cook it The great thing about chicken is that you can cook it in so many ways. You can fry or grill it, or roast your chicken in the oven. Slow-cooked chicken is always tasty. Boiling… [Continue Reading]

A Review of Avatar, the Way of Water

The other day, I did something different and went to see a movie. I needed to ve out of the house for a bit, and the new Avatar movie gave me something to do for a few hours. Kinda felt like forever though. Anyway, I have some thoughts on the movie, so here is a basic review of the second Avatar film. First off, I want to get over the visuals. The movie does look pretty damn stunning. While I care little for the mechs, ships and robots, the designs of the beasts and the oceanic shots are very reminiscent… [Continue Reading]

On Pies

I love pies. Stick anything fitting into a pie crust and I will definitely eat it. Doesn’t matter what the filling is either. Sweet or savory, I love it. There’s something very comforting about some nice pastry with a tasty filling, especially when it’s warm and fresh from the oven. There’s so much you can do with a pie. But although they seem simple enough at a glance, turns out that a lot of work goes into making a pie. I just wish making a pie wasn’t such a pain. Well, it’s not a pain, but it’s also not completely… [Continue Reading]

Medic Plays D&D for the First Time In A Year

It’s been a long, long time since I properly played Dungeons and Dragons. So when my sister messaged me with a campaign idea she’d had, I jumped at the idea. For the first time in over a year, we would finally get the group back together and play. Well, we were playing online via Discord, but you get what I mean. After a long time discussing characters, we settled on three characters: Regret, a Tiefling Spore Druid with ties to the Fey Lands; Leoric, a Wood Elf Rogue who also has ties with the Fey Lands; and finally, me, Milo,… [Continue Reading]

The Mega Sandwich

Everyone enjoys some sort of sandwich. Whether it’s a humble peanut butter and jam, to a filling burito, all the way to questionable sandwiches like burgers and hotdogs, there is a sandwich for everyone. One of my personal favourites is the egg mayo sarnie. However, today I will be talking about the MEGA SANDWICH. Basically, it’s a sandwich that uses a whole loaf of bread. The Mega Sandwich is very simple. Rather than using slices of bread, we hollow out a loaf of bread and stick in all the stuff you’d normally put into a standard sandwich. But how you… [Continue Reading]

Velocipastor

Sometimes, it’s nice watching a b-movie. There are so many movies being made all the time, that you’re bound to miss some. Not all movies though are equal, not just in quality, but in production costs as well. This sort of thinking is how I ended up watching Velocipastor. Now, I’m not normally a viewer of b-movies, but there was no way we could turn down a movie about a pastor that turns into a dinosaur. We were spurned onwards by what people had also searched. Terms like “is Velocipastor a real movie?” The answer to that question is ‘yes’.… [Continue Reading]

A Nice Walk in the Dark

I consider myself a fortunate person. I live in a country where going out at night is mostly safe. The most likely thing to get you is a car that doesn’t stop at red lights. And because it’s so calm, I can also go out and play some Pokemon GO as well. It’s very pleasant. However, currently, it’s cold, and it gets dark quite early. We are in the middle of winter, after all. But the darkness can be a little depressing. This is where Pokemon GO comes into play, chewing away at my more negative feelings. It’s nice, just… [Continue Reading]
