Predestination – A Movie I Didn’t Finish

It kinda seems stupid to write an article about a movie I never got around to finishing, but sometimes I feel like things aren’t worth finishing. After all, sometimes things are just so bad that you can’t finish them. However, Predestination, a movie I watched recently, I turned it off because I was bored. Okay, I should probably explain why I started watching the movie first. This was on Netflix, and Netflix shows a short preview of a movie before you play it, and it also has a short synopsis. The synopsis stated that the movie I was about to… [Continue Reading]

That Aquaman Movie

Every week or so, I visit my dad and we watch a movie together. He’s got pretty much everything, Netflix, Amazon Prime, all sorts of streaming services, so there’s plenty of choices to be had. We were going to watch Aquaman 2, but I hadn’t seen Aquaman 1 yet, so we decided to watch that first. And it was an alright movie. I mean, as far as super hero movies go, it was fine. A nice origin story, some changes of heart, the whole becoming a more devoted super hero thing and unlocking more powers, it’s pretty standard. The story… [Continue Reading]

A Review of Avatar, the Way of Water

The other day, I did something different and went to see a movie. I needed to ve out of the house for a bit, and the new Avatar movie gave me something to do for a few hours. Kinda felt like forever though. Anyway, I have some thoughts on the movie, so here is a basic review of the second Avatar film. First off, I want to get over the visuals. The movie does look pretty damn stunning. While I care little for the mechs, ships and robots, the designs of the beasts and the oceanic shots are very reminiscent… [Continue Reading]

Velocipastor

Sometimes, it’s nice watching a b-movie. There are so many movies being made all the time, that you’re bound to miss some. Not all movies though are equal, not just in quality, but in production costs as well. This sort of thinking is how I ended up watching Velocipastor. Now, I’m not normally a viewer of b-movies, but there was no way we could turn down a movie about a pastor that turns into a dinosaur. We were spurned onwards by what people had also searched. Terms like “is Velocipastor a real movie?” The answer to that question is ‘yes’.… [Continue Reading]

A Random Review of Everything Everywhere All At Once

I don’t know what to say about Everything Everywhere All At Once. My boyfriend and I picked Everything Everywhere All At Once for a movie night, having heard from various friends that the movie was amazing. It’s over 2 hours long and, although it has a slightly slow start, the ball starts rolling and nothing can stop it. It’s Anarchy almost Heck, I don’t even want to give this film a synopsis or anything like that. The movie is so chaotic that, despite watching it, I can’t really explain what was going on. The movie’s synopsis by actual reviewers kinda… [Continue Reading]

Disney’s Jungle Cruise: The Real-Life Conquistadors Behind the Villains

So I just watched Jungle Cruise, the newest adventure movie released by Disney and starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. It was a good popcorn flick, fun for the whole family etc. I was intrigued by its use of historical figures in the villainous roles. I guess everything below this line is technically spoilers, though they’re pretty tame in the grand scheme of things. The two main villains (Prince Joachim of Prussia and Lope de Aguirre, the 15th century conquistador) are both real people taken straight from the history books. And most of the internet has already discussed how thoroughly-fictionalized these… [Continue Reading]

Venom: Let There Be Carnage random review

The other day, I saw Venom: Let There Be Carnage at the cinema. Rather amusingly, I had never watched the first movie, but, like, it was Venom. I’ve read tons of comics with Venom in, so I already had a vague idea what was going on. That being said, I actually didn’t even need to see it. Let There Be Carnage doesn’t really need it. Anyway here’s a random review of this movie. Before I start., there may be spoilers! Read at your own risk! The same old pattern of good guy fighting bad guy with same powers Not gonna… [Continue Reading]

A Review of Suicide Squad That Isn’t Really a Review

The other week, I went to see Suicide Squad with some family. I’ve always been a fan of super hero movies, and people were saying that this one was good. At the very least, it couldn’t have been much worse than the previous Suicide Squad, right? Well, yes, it was better. But something about Suicide Squad bothered me. Before I get to that, let’s just cover the basics. SOME SPOILERS AHEAD, YOU ARE BEING WARNED NOW. IF YOU DON’T WANT THE MOVIE TO BE SPOILED, THEN LEAVE NOW. And preferably go watch the movie. Because it was legitimately a lot… [Continue Reading]

A Ramble About the Snyder Cut

I finally got around to watching the Snyder cut of Justice League. You see, I like super hero movies. But DC’s live action movies haven’t really been pulling their weight. The biggest mess was around the Justice League movie, which was filmed mostly by one person then put together by another person. It was all a horrible corporate-meddling mess. One that left us with a shitty Justice League movie that made even the worse animated movies flinch. Now we have Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Which is a 4 hour movie as Zack Snyder, the original director, imagined it. Normally ‘uncut’… [Continue Reading]

Thoughts on the Joker Movie

I went to see Joker at the cinema the other night, after not really seen any movies for a while, and frankly, it was worth the trip. The cinema was packed but everyone was pretty quiet throughout the whole movie. Understandably because Joker was a genuinely really good movie. The plot was great. The acting was great. The music was great. The cinematography was outstanding, with some really amazing and beautiful shots. This is a well-crafted world, even if it is anachronistic at times, with believable characters and scenarios. You can see this horrible transformation from a hollow soul clinging… [Continue Reading]
