On Taskmaster Series 16

Series 16 of Taskmaster has been rambling on and is close to conclusion, but I’ve found myself not really enjoying it as much as previous series. There’s something about it that I just can’t place. Is it the cast? Is it the location? The theme? I don’t really know. I think it’s the tasks. The tasks are more tedious than normal. A lot of them are “do X thing but also follow Y rules”. There’s also a couple of kinda repeat tasks. One is to make a gift for Greg, and the cast (except for Sam Campbell for some reason)… [Continue Reading]

Atlas Fallout Foundation – Terrifying Emergency Alert Systems

I’m not really a fan of Youtube horror, but there’s something about emergency alert systems that really go beyond the normal scary things out there. While I have watched things like Mandela Catalogue, Gemini Home Entertainment and Local 58, none of those have really stuck with me. I’ve never actually seen an emergency alert in real life, but I’ve seen videos of real ones and they are genuinely terrifying. The nuclear strike hoax in Hawaii was the biggest and best example of emergency alert systems, and that was scary even for people not in Hawaii. Atlas Fallout Foundation is a… [Continue Reading]

Another Awesome Adventure on the Stormcloud

Sometimes, we don’t play as Reapers when we play Sea of Thieves. Sometimes, we want to do other stuff. For example, Bacxaber, Fox and I wanted to do Merchant Emissary missions in order to level up our ledger. The ledger can give out some pretty nice rewards, and these tend to rotate on the regular. To get all the rewards, you need a certain amount of emissary value, which can be obtained by raising an emissary flag and selling loot for whatever faction you decide to join. This time round, we were doing Merchants, specifically Lost Shipments. Most of this… [Continue Reading]

Mareep Classic Community Day

On November 25th, we had the Classic Community Day of the season. This classic community day though wasn’t the most interesting one as it featured Mareep, the little fluffy electric sheep. Mareep is actually a pretty common Pokemon, regardless of season, and has been around for a long time. It also had a research weekend event where you’d complete research tasks in order to get Mareep. Still, Mareep Community Day is what we got, and, weirdly, it came with quarter egg-hatching distance, again. Personally though, I’ve been wanting this. Despite all my years of playing, I never managed to actually… [Continue Reading]

Thoughts On Wanting to Play League of Legends Again

I’ve been watching a lot of random stuff on Twitch lately and one of those things is League of Legends streams. I don’t know why, but I find them pretty interesting to listen to. The game has changed a lot since I last played, and there’s tons of new characters that I don’t recognize. It’s also interesting to see a variety of people playing a variety of champions. The game does seem to have chilled out a bit though. Watching these matches, things seem less toxic. Maybe it’s because I’m watching higher level streamers, but the anger isn’t nearly as… [Continue Reading]

Weird Behaviors on the High Seas

I don’t have THAT many hours on the Sea of Thieves, but I’ve played enough to see plenty of weird things. Pirates are curious creatures, however they sometimes act in ways that don’t make much sense. The first weird behavior is floating in the middle of the ocean with your anchor completely lowered and your sails down. It is the sign of a newbie, but I’ve seen Dark Adventurer ships do this. Leaving your anchor and sails down is probably the worst thing you can do. If you are parking your ship, you should ALWAYS keep your anchor raised and… [Continue Reading]

AI is overrated

Right now, AIs (specifically LLMs like ChatGPT) are a pretty big topic of discussion. Wherever you go, chances are, you‘re going to encounter the subject. So, naturally, I’ve developed my own opinions about these sorts of AIs that I’m going to share with you. Right now, statements like “AI is going revolutionize [Insert Thing Here]” are all too common. To be honest, I feel like the hype is pretty overblown, and there’s some ethical questions about AI most people weirdly just don’t seem to care about. For example, most big AIs, like ChatGPT, are trained using publicly available material from… [Continue Reading]

On Minecraft Combat

Minecraft combat these days is weird. We have swords, shields, tridents, bows and crossbows. There’s also things like splash potions and snowballs, as well as TNT and End Crystals. And these days, you can use an axe as efficiently as you can use a sword, depending on if you prefer fast damage or slow damage. Depending on what platform you’re on though, because Java and Bedrock Edition both treat axes differently. Combat wasn’t always like this though. For a long time, combat in Minecraft consisted mostly of using a sword and swinging it as fast as you can. Damage is… [Continue Reading]

On the Change to the Dark Adventurers Sails

In a video post on November 8th, Rare, the developers behind Sea of Thieves, announced that they’d be looking at the designs of several sails, and would be changing them to be more inline with all the other sails in the game. While there are several sails that are differently designed, the sails that most people are talking about are the Dark Adventurers sails. The Dark Adventurers sails are unique in two ways. The first way that the sails are unique is that they are very, very expensive. Like all the other Dark Adventurers items, the sails are incredibly expensive,… [Continue Reading]

Things I Watch When I’m Sad

Life is full of ups and downs, and when you’re on a down, you need something to bring you up. For me, that often involves watching videos on Youtube and other video services. Here are the sort of things I watch when I’m feeling sad. I’ve mentioned most of this stuff before, but I feel like these things are worth repeating, because the world these days is so depressing. Dog grooming videos I don’t know why I watch pet grooming videos in particular, but they almost always have happy endings. Even videos with massively matted dogs end up with a… [Continue Reading]
