The No Mercy Heist

My very first first person experience was a very long time ago, when I played Left 4 Dead back in 2009. I crawled through the map of No Mercy, and although I never made it to the hospital in my first attempt, the feeling of terror and thrills that the game gave me stuck around for a very long time. I never ended up playing much Left 4 Dead in general, due to it being a game where you want decent people to play with, but later play-throughs cemented that feeling. No Mercy will always be my favourite Left 4… [Continue Reading]

Lootboxes

(Note: this is a filler article replacing an article deleted on 12/1/2017 by author request.) aabicus: The main reason Overwatch lootboxes don’t bother me is how quickly you level up. You get around 4K experience for every game assuming you’re playing a group, so even an hour of gaming gets you another loot box. However, I have to note that I have 17,000 unspent coins that I’d been building up since I started playing, and I’ve been incredibly lucky with the skins I want dropping out of level up loot boxes. (Plus I only play Lucio so I don’t care… [Continue Reading]

The One Tool Every Writer Should Have

The most valuable thing I own (in real life, not TF2) cost only $20. Almost every article of mine that you’ve read on this blog was written on an AlphaSmart, an old device originally designed to be purchased in bulk by primary schools to teach kids to type. It is an amazingly versatile little tool and I highly recommend that every single writer get one. The primary reason is that I am an easily distracted person. When I try to write on the computer, I have a troubling tendency to stop writing and start browsing reddit or playing video games,… [Continue Reading]

My Growing Obsession With Volt

Sometimes I wonder if there is something wrong with me. Like an overactive imagination or something. Start doing something enough and it starts to affect my dreams. The dream I had the other day involved me as Volt running round desperately failing at jumping puzzles, trying to make friends with a random Mag while gathering information so I could write a series of Daily SPUF articles, as the soundtrack from the Binding of Isaac: Rebirth played in the background. I must be insane. But the thing is, Volt is popping up everywhere in my head. Really, I shouldn’t be surprised.… [Continue Reading]

Upcoming Overwatch and Payday Halloween events!

Today was a big day for gaming announcements! Over on the Payday subreddit, players were able to discover leaks suggesting that new weapons, DLCs, heisters, maps, and difficulties were coming to Payday 2. Yes, that’s right, new difficulties. ‘Mayhem’ will be between Overkill and Deathwish, and ‘One Down’ is going to be the new hardest difficulty in the game.  While its name suggests that players will only be allotted one incapacitation before going into custody, we don’t know much more than that. Hopefully it comes with some balance tweaks beyond just that. And today the official announcement finally went live: Safehouse… [Continue Reading]

My First Sortie

So, after much tension, Davjo dragged me, kicking and screaming, through my first Sortie in Warframe… “OH GOD MEDIC STOP WITH THE DAMN WARFRAME ARTICLES I AM SO SICK OF WARFRAME ARTICLES!” Oh come on, don’t be like that. There’s over 1000 articles on this blog. Most of them are about Team Fortress 2, but nothing interesting has happened as of late. I’d do PAYDAY articles but aabicus has that covered. And no one likes it when I do Skyrim or Minecraft articles. Warframe is my game of the month and I want to talk about it. Anyway, a Sortie… [Continue Reading]

Things I don’t like about Warframe

For the sake of equality, after the Things I don’t like about Overwatch article, I’ve decided to do a few more of these. It is unfair for me to bitch about Overwatch, when other games have faults. I was going to do a Team Fortress one first but I need to refresh myself. Until I do, let’s go over things I dislike in Warframe. Crafting Times As well as space ninjas, Warframe is known for its need to farm. Warfarm after all needs you to get components to build everything. Pretty much everything important requires a handful of rare resources… [Continue Reading]

5 Basic Tips Every Payday the Heist Player Should Know

Payday the Heist remains among my top 3 favorite games of all time, even if I almost never see players in my lobbies with double-digit playtimes. Overkill puts the game on sale constantly, which I’m grateful for because it ensures there are always a few lobbies open for me to jump into, but there are some very important little details that far too many players overlook. If you’re considering playing Payday the Heist, following these four steps will instantly graduate you from a beginning player to an intermediate player who’s far more of a benefit to this team. (Note: This guide… [Continue Reading]

MeeMs Thoughts on Space Jump Story Simulator

(FTL) I LOVE this game. And when I say love, I got the game on the 20th: And, by the 23rd, this is what the steam page looked like: Now I don’t know about you, but I might have a problem… and too much free time. And for those of you that don’t see why, I’m averaging 6.3Hrs/day! That’s more than a quarter of a day, every day, for three days! For those of you who don’t know, the basic premise of the game is that you’re a captain seeing your ship from a top down perspective, you have the ability to… [Continue Reading]

Payday the Heist: Bugs that Make a Difference

Every game comes with bugs, and the Payday franchise has some pretty memorable ones. While most of the funniest are in the sequel, the really useful ones survive in the first game because the devs don’t update it anymore, meaning that a number of strats have entered the high-level playbook despite being slightly different from what the developers intended. 1. Reviving people through walls. This is the most famous bug, and even low-level players should know this one. You can interact with objectives, equipment, and players through almost anything, the only requirement is that you’re in range. This lets you take cover in… [Continue Reading]
